Vindicated

I still retrace the times you were here.
Remembering your face and voice before it disappears.
My dearest thoughts of you still set in stone.
Scraping through my head ‘til I remind myself:
I’m alone.

You never showed me how to be like you.
Just how you answer; vindicate the things that you do.
You just arrived but now you must depart.
I’ve gone too far to notice I’m right back at the start.

So much inside, it seems like such a waste.
Though you’re not so far away, I know I can’t keep pace.
You’re part of everything; you’re all I see.
Just a jaded, dying reminder of what I’ll never be.
