i smiled because i thought
it was the beginning.
you smiled because you knew
it was the end.

fragile girl and desperado boy;
we are a cliche love story in
three acts:
she is hopeful
she is hopeless
she is broken

we were just two
(silly, stupid, immature)
teenagers playing on love.
who said there were
girlfriends and those damn
rules and regulations?
(damn baby, forget the lies
that lie between us.)

i'm known for my level
head and guarded heart;
both are lost with "hello.
because you always knew i
was a sucker for pickup lines and you.

but reality hits- you love that
girlfriend who always puts out,
and i go back to my routine.
ice cream and grey's anatomy reruns
work wonders for the wounded
heart.

you go back the screaming
passion with the girl (who wants
me dead, i tell you)
and i go back to dr. mcdreamy
and thoughts of that summer.

i need to stop writing poems about him.
