I am a jealous creature,
a selfish girl that wants
you to love only me—
but I understand the signs
you love him in a way
that transcends a sister’s love
he completes you,
the key to the lock you keep on your heart
(you’ve already let him in)

I am a fearful creature,
a china doll that hates
the thought of being replaced—
but you assure me that I’m safe
he and I are on different planes
he can never be me just as
I can never be him
without us you’d be nothing
(please, don’t trade me for him)

I am a lonely creature,
a silver wolf that longs
to be seen as gold
in someone else’s eyes.

I cannot help being what I am
I wish you could see that
my eyes have been turned
a deep shade of green

a/n: there’s nothing you or I can do to stop this. some things change, but my love will remain. what I can’t say in words, I’ll say in verse. I don’t know why I cry when you say his name. but it’s not your problem, dear—it is mine and I’ll fix it if I can. (I fear “Bells for Her” and “Cheers, Darlin’”)
