Naughtier than Mrs. Robinson
Someone was slapping my face.
“Jackie?” said a soft voice. “Jackie, are you alright?” I opened my eyes and blinked away the brightness. My chocolate gaze met Clement’s concerned hazel eyes. “Are you alright?”
Oh…I must have fallen asleep during the ride home…and Clement must have carried me into the house and set me on the couch. That was so considerate of him. “Yeah,” I said, rubbing my head as I stood up. “I had the weirdest and most disturbing dream though.” I shuddered.
“Uh…Jackie…” I turned my head to the side and saw my mother standing on the other side of the room in her bathrobe. A man dressed in jeans and a rumbled looking t-shirt stood next to you. I must admit, the man was pretty handsome. His brown hair was bedraggled and his blue eyes were deep and piercing. Why did he look so familiar though? I swear I’ve seen him before. Only…without his clothes! Oh my god, I remember!
“Oh my god!” I shot up into a sitting position and stared at the two adults in horror. “Oh my god,” I repeated.
Clement placed a hand on my shoulder. “Jackie, calm down,” he said, rubbing the shoulder.
I stared at him in disbelief. “Calm down? You’re telling me to calm down? I’m sorry, but did you just walk in to see your mother playing naked leap frog with a complete stranger?” I shouted.
Clement stiffened. “No, but I just walked in to see my father doing it…”
Now I’m confused. “Wait…what…?”
The older man gave an awkward smile. “Um, hello, my names Andre DuBois.” He held out his hand.
I stared at it in disgust. “…You don’t actually expect me to touch that, do you?”
Andre’s hand fell to his side and he self-consciously wiped it on his pants. My mother rolled her eyes. “Now Jackie, try to act mature about this.”
“Excuse me, you human mattress, but would you act mature if you walked in on your mother?”
“No, but then again my mother’s 63, and I don’t even want to think about that.” She shuddered.
I hissed in aggravation. “How could you do this? Bringing a strange man to our house and….and…ugh!”
“Well you weren’t supposed to be home until Sunday night,” my mother explained. “And Andre’s not a strange man. I’ve….I’ve been seeing him for about eight months now.” She down at the ground in guilt.
“W-What?” I stood up from the couch and stared at my mother in shock.
She bit her lip. “Actually…we just got engaged tonight….”
I was finding it hard to breath. “Enaged? I…I don’t….Why did you tell me?!” I shouted, throwing my hands in the air.
My mother took a step closer to me. “Well…it was just going so well and I didn’t want to ruin it somehow…”
Okay, now I was insulted. “Oh, so all your failed relationships are my fault?”
My mother shook her head. “No! That’s not what I meant!”
“Then what did you mean?” I snapped, crossing my arms.
“I mean… I love Andre and I didn’t want to mess up. I was afraid that by telling you, which would prove it had gotten so serious, that I would somehow jinx our relationship.” She stepped even closer to me and grabbed my arms. “Honey, believe me when I say that I was going to tell you when you got back from your fathers.”
“Believe you? How can I trust anything you say?” I shook out of her grasp. I turned toward Clement. “And you! Did you know about this?” Clement nodded. I gagged. “You knew and you still kissed me? Ew! Oh god, I participated in incest!” My life has now become an official soup opera.
I looked back at my mother and almost drowned from the feelings of guilt and betrayal that swept through me. I was no better than my mother. Here I was, lying about something as important as Alphonso. Was this betrayal going to be what my mom feels when she finds out? Personally, it’s not nearly as bad since I’ve only been seeing him for a week and not eight fucking months! I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I was so confused. I needed to get out of here.
I bolted for the door, ignoring the calls from my mother and Clement. I ran down my street, going as fast as my legs could take me. When I reached the end of the block, I noticed that the bus had just arrived at the stop. I hurriedly got on and made my way towards the back.
It was fairly easy to find an empty seat. Hardly anyone was on the bus at this time of night. There was a man in a trench coat and a woman in a diner uniform, each sitting a few seats away.
I looked out the window and sighed. Where should I go? I couldn’t go to Natale and Sofia’s. No, the guilt would just kill me more if I saw them. There was no way I would go to Haruka’s. I’m sure she knew about this whole thing, and it makes me angry to think that she could have told me and saved me from the shock, not to mention the horror of seeing my mom- okay, not going there again.
A motorcycle suddenly came up to the bus. I looked closer and noticed how familiar it was. I gasped. The bus came to another stop and I jumped out of my seat. I ran off of the bus and walked to the motorcycle that parked itself behind the bus.
The driver took his helmet off and I smiled. “Sergio,” I said as I came up to stand before him. “What are you doing here?”
He shrugged. “I got a call from Haruka. She said Clement had called her and told her about what happened tonight. I was lucky enough to see you when I drove past the bus.”
I sighed. “So you know everything, huh?” he nodded. “I don’t know why I’m so angry; I’m basically doing the same thing she did.”
“It’s different, you know,” he said, “when the parent does it. To kids, the parents are supposed to be the responsible ones. So, it makes sense that you feel this way.”
I nodded, and I could feel tears welling up. “I know but… They’re engaged, Sergio! How could she get engaged to this guy I don’t even know!” The tears started falling down my cheeks and I tried to gasp for air as I started to sob. “He’s taking away my mommy!” I wailed.
Sergio got off of his bike and came closer to me. He put a hand on the back of my head and pulled me to his chest. I cried into his shirt while fisting the smooth material.
“It’s not fair,” I said as I calmed down. “It’s not fair.” I pulled away from his chest to look at him. “And she’s getting married to Clement’s father! He’s the chief of police! This is just going to make everything even more complicated!”
“Don’t worry,” Sergio said soothingly. “Alphonso and I have got everything under control, so you don’t need to worry, okay?” He smoothed out my hair.
“You mean…you two knew about this?” I asked suspiciously.
“I did,” Sergio said. “I just told Al a few hours ago. He’d be here right now, but he’s taking care of a few things.” I was sure those few things had to do with the stolen artifacts.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me,” I said, scowling at him. “You and Haruka.”
Sergio shrugged. “It wasn’t our place to tell you. This was between you and your mother.” He suddenly handed me his helmet. “Here, wear this.”
“Where are we going?” I asked, not yet ready to go home.
“I’m taking you to the Venturi’s. I’m sure Al will want to see you when he gets back.”
It was raining by the time we got to the Venturi’s mansion. When Sergio opened the front door we were bombarded by servants with towels. My hair felt like it was going to be pulled of when a maid started drying it off.
“That’s enough,” said a stern voice. Sergio and I looked to see Mrs. Venturi walking down the stairs. She smiled at me. “Jackie! I didn’t know you were coming here.”
“I picked her up by the street,” Sergio said.
“You poor girl! You’re all wet!” She ignored Sergio. She grabbed my hand and started pulling me up the stairs. “Come on, we’ll get you into some dry clothes and then warm you up, okay?” I nodded and let her pull me throughout the house until we finally came to a small room with the washer and dryer. She started rummaging through a pile and pulled out a long t-shirt and sweatpants. She handed them to me. “Here, these were just in the dryer and should still be somewhat warm.”
“Thank you,” I said, taking the bundle of clothes from her.
She patted my head. “Come down when you’re finished. I’ll be in the kitchen. Fedele’s around here somewhere and Sergio will probably be downstairs waiting for you.” I nodded my head and she left me alone to change.
When I was done changing and hanging up my wet clothes, I made my way back downstairs, trying not to trip on the too big sweatpants. When I finally reached the banister I saw that Sergio was waiting for me, just like Mrs. Venturi had said, but Alphonso and the others were there too, talking in hushed tones. When they noticed me looking down at them they stopped talking and just smiled at me.
“Hey,” Dante said as I walked down the stairs. He scrutinized me for a moment and then shrugged. “Eh, I liked her better in the school girl get-up.”
Alphonso punched Dante’s arm. He walked up to me when I reached the bottom of the stairs and swept me into his arms. “Are you felling better?” he asked, and I knew Sergio must have told him about our little encounter.
I nodded me head. “Yeah, at least a little bit.”
“Is there anything that will cheer you up? Say the word and Dante will be dressed in a clown suit.”
“What?” Exclaimed Dante. “Why not Luca?”
Alphonso and I ignored him. I bit my lip and buried my face into Alphonso’s chest. “Well, there is one thing that might help…”
Awhile later we were all sitting in the living room of the Venturi residence, watching the big screen. Luca was lounging in the recliner looking bored while eating Doritos. Fedele and Dante were sitting on the floor in front of the couch sharing a huge bowl of popcorn. I sat on the couch between Sergio and Alphonso. Sergio had his head propped up by his arm and was staring at the screen with disinterest. Alphonso had a hand in my hair and continually played with the strands. I was swooning over Matthew Macfayden.
“You know,” Dante said while stuffing his face with popcorn. “If they wanted to make this movie great, they would have had some Elizabeth and Jane action going on in that bed.” I tensed but ignored him.
Fedele nodded in agreement. “Who would you rather do, Jane or Elizabeth?” I frowned.
“Jane,” Luca said.
Dante scoffed. “No way, man. Elizabeth all the way. I bet you she’s a wild one in the bed.” My eye twitched in annoyance.
“Yeah, but it’s the quiet ones you always have to look out for it,” Luca said.
“Okay,” I shouted. “There is no sex talk while watching Pride and Prejudice! Unless…it’s about Mr. Darcy.” All five male occupants in the room looked at me. “What? Mr. Darcy is the epitome of a sex god! I would jump him in a second!” The screen suddenly turned black and I turned to glare at Alphonso who was pointing the clicker at the TV. “Hey!”
“No more Mr. Darcy for you,” he said, setting the clicker down out of my reach.
I gaped at him. I fisted his shirt and put my face close to his and glared menacingly. “You cannot do that! It just got to the part where they meet again and Elizabeth finally accepts his proposal!” He didn’t move so I decided to go with plan B. “I will start crying if you don’t turn it back on.”
Alphonso sighed. “Fine.” And I was once again able to stare at Mr. Darcy’s beautiful face.
Fedele laughed. “Al’s being pushed around by a brown haired midget!” I kicked his head. “Ow, shit!”
“…You have bewitched me body and soul and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.”
The boys cringed while I gasped in excitement. “He is so wonderful!” I exclaimed. Sergio and Alphonso rolled their eyes. I hit Alphonso’s arm. “Why can’t you be more like Mr. Darcy?”
Sergio laughed while Alphonso glared at me. “Because he’s a total wimp. That guy wouldn’t last one day in the real world.”
“Are you kidding me?” I snarled. “He would so kick your ass! He was able to find Wickham and Lydia and make everything all better!”
Alphonso scowled. “If he was a real man, he would have made Elizabeth accept him the first time.”
“He’s a gentleman! He loved her enough to respect her wishes, but he got better so he could win her heart!” I huffed, and turned away from him. “You’re a guy; you don’t understand how the female mind works. If you did, you would agree with the fact that Mr. Darcy is the greatest man to ever come into creation.”
“He’s a fictional character,” Alphonso grumbled under his breath.
We all sat in uncomfortable silence. There was a sudden “boom” of thunder and the lights went off. I screamed and jumped into someone’s lap. He let out an “oomph” while I wrapped my arms around his neck in a death grip. A pair of arms wrapped around my waist to keep me balanced.
“Ow! Who the hell stepped on my hand?” said Dante.
“Me,” I heard Luca reply. “I’m trying to find those damn flashlights.”
“They’re in the desk drawer,” said Alphonso.
A light suddenly flashed towards me. I turned to see Luca with a flashlight and handing the other one to Alphonso. I looked up at the person I was holding and grimaced.
“Could someone get her off me?” Sergio asked indifferently, though there was a slight blush to his face. Uh oh, he must have noticed that I’m not exactly wearing a bra at the moment. Poor guy. Or would it be lucky guy?
Thunder cracked again. I let out a squeal and wrapped myself around Sergio tighter. I hate thunderstorms! With a passion! Ever since I was little, whenever a thunderstorm occurred I would wrap myself up in a blanket and hide under the covers.
I heard Alphonso let out a sigh and he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me off of Sergio. I instinctively turned towards him and wrapped my arms and legs around him and buried my face in his neck.
“Play times over,” Alphonso said as we all made our way out of the living room. “I’ll take you to your room.”
“Don’t I have to call my mom?” I asked. Although I was angry at her, I still knew better than to stay over at someone’s house without telling her, especially since she’s now dating, oh sorry, engaged, to a policeman.
“Haruka already called to tell her that you were staying at her house,” Sergio explained from behind us.
“Ah, Haruka,” Dante said, a smile in his voice. “Maybe I should go over there to make sure she has comfort during this storm…”
“Not unless you want chopsticks shoved up your ass,” Luca replied sarcastically.
The ride started to become a little bumpy and I figured Alphonso was carrying me up the stairs.
“Night Jackie!” the boys chorused and I gave them a small wave.
Alphonso carried me to a small room down the hall. He went to gently set me down on the bed but I refused to let go. “Jackie,” he said softly. “You need to let go.” I shook my head. “Would you let go if I promise to be right back? I just need to change.”
I sighed and released him. The moment he left the room I crawled under the bed and clutched one of the pillows. A few minutes later I felt the blankets being pulled back and the bed dip. Strong arms wrapped around me and pulled me towards a hard yet comforting chest. I let go of the pillow and once again clutched Alphonso. I suddenly noticed that he was not wearing a shirt. I hated the storm even more now because I was too scared to enjoy the view.
“Why are you so afraid of storms?” Alphonso asked in a husky voice.
I shrugged. “They’re always so loud and….violent. I was always alone during a storm when I was little, since my mom took night classes and my grandmother slept like a rock. When there was a storm when I was with my dad it was even scarier since we were usually outside during it. My dad was always with me though and I pretty much held onto him like I am you right now…” Alphonso held me tighter while one of his hands massaged my scalp comfortingly. I felt a tinged of guilt. “Alphonso…”
“Hmm?” I felt his just rumble contently.
“I don’t really think you need to be like Mr. Darcy…” I said, running my hands up and down his back. “I like you just as you are…”
“I know,” was his reply.
I smiled and pressed my cheek to his bare chest. Oh, how delightful. Alphonso suddenly rolled us over so he was lying on his back with my on top of him. I turned my head to look up at him and rested my chin on his stomach. He smiled down at me and I blushed.
“Won’t your parents be angry at you for staying in here?” I asked.
He chuckled and I felt it throughout my body. “I don’t think they’ll mind.”
I shrugged and turned my head to the side, feeling myself falling asleep. “You’re comfy,” I told him while snuggling even closer to him. It warmed me that he was staying here with me. I don’t quite peg Alphonso as the type of guy who would normally cuddle while in bed with a girl. I shivered slightly when I felt his fingertips running up and down my back, but soon I found myself lull into sleep.
The sound of a click and a flash woke me up. I opened my eyes and then shut them from the brightness. I heard Alphonso groan under me and he turned his head into the pillow to block out the sun.
I opened my eyes again and blinked until they adjusted. I turned my head to see Fedele smiling at us with a camera in his hands. “You two are just too cute,” he said in a mocking voice before snapping another picture.
I yawned and sat up, resulting in me straddling Alphonso’s hips. I blushed and then glared when I hear another click. “Take one more picture and I’m shoving the camera where the sun don’t shine,” I growled.
Fedele just laughed and practically skipped out of the room. I looked back at Alphonso and smiled. He was so cute when he slept. Without thinking I reached out and touched his face. My fingers gently skimmed his cheeks, his forehead, his eyelids, and then his lips. I let out a gasp when he opened his mouth and nipped my finger gently.
“You were awake!” I accused, taking me finger away from his mouth and poking it into his chest.
He smiled and grabbed the wrist of my poking hand and pulled me closer to him. “Good morning,” he said huskily. He brushed his lips with mine.
I laughed giddily and pushed away from him. “You have morning breath.”
He chuckled. “So do you.” I gasped and covered my mouth. He chuckled some more. He lifted me up with him and then set me on the ground. “Are you hungry? I’m sure breakfast is ready.”
I nodded and Alphonso led me down the hall. We descended a spiral staircase and entered a warm colored kitchen. Luca and Dante were seated at a round wooden table eating eggs, bacon, and pancakes.
“Morning,” Dante said, his mouth full of eggs.
Alphonso rolled his eyes. “Don’t you guys ever go home?”
Luca shrugged. “You have better food.”
I took a seat at the table while Alphonso got each of us a plate. When he sat down he started filling his plate with bacon and stacking pancakes. I gaped at him. How could boys eat so much?
He must have felt my stare because he looked over at me and raised a brow. “What? Help yourself.” He gestured toward the food.
I shook my head in disbelief before grabbing my own food and digging in. “Where’s Fedele?” I asked in curiosity. The little twerp seemed to have disappeared after taking his pictures.
Dante smirked. “Most likely trying to decide what to wear.” He turned and gave a pointed look to Alphonso. “Bianca’s coming over.”
“Who’s Bianca?” I asked.
“The girl that Fedele’s crazy for,” Dante mocked.
“Bianca Morretti,” Alphonso started. “Her family is subordinates to the Venturi’s. Her uncle, Costanzo Morretti, is the Head of the family and her guardian.”
“He’s also a royal ass,” Dante grumbled with his mouth full of eggs.
“Why do you say that?” I wondered, taking a bite out of a delicious pancake smothered in syrup.
“…because he’s an ass,” Luca replied, as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
I growled. “But why do you think he’s an ass? What has he done?”
Dante shrugged. “He’s just so…pompous. He thinks he’s the big man on campus.”
“So this Bianca girl is…bad…?”
Luca shook his head. “Nah, Bianca’s okay, it’s just her uncle who’s a jackass.”
We all went quiet when Fedele made his way into the kitchen. He stopped short when he noticed us all staring at him. “What?”
Dante smirked. “Are you and Bianca going to play Find the Cannoli?”
I glared at him and kicked him under the table. Dante winced while I smiled. “So, Fedele, I hear you have a little crush?”
Fedele blushed and I almost squealed at how cute he was. Alphonso rolled his eyes. “Okay, leave him alone,” Alphonso said, giving the three of us pointed looks.
Luca looked aghast. “Hey, I didn’t even do anything.”
“You let Dante open his mouth,” Alphonso explained. He stood up and dragged me with him. “You two go back to your own homes and get ready for tonight.”
Luca and Dante grumbled as they got out of their seats and walked out the swinging door. Fedele continued to blush as he opened the fridge and took out orange juice.
Alphonso pulled me up the stairs and back to the room I had stayed in for the night. “You can wash up in the attached bathroom. I’ll go get your dress.” I had completely forgotten that I did not arrive at the Venturi’s in an oversized t-shirt and sweatpants.
When Alphonso left to get my dress, I went into the bathroom to wash my face. When I was finished I went back into the room and jumped onto the bed. I stared out the window that looked out to the forest behind the mansion. When I was little I use to be so scared of those woods. Natale, Sofia, and I would scare each other with stories about the forest. Okay, so it was mostly Natale and Sofia scaring me.
Okay, so maybe thinking of Natale and Sofia wasn’t the best thing to do right now.
I let out a whimper and curled up. I wonder if they’ll hate me when they find out. I had told them that I had chosen them over Alphonso, but I just couldn’t stay away. The Dal Monte’s and Venturi’s are enemies. If I, in the future, became a Venturi would I have to hate the Dal Monte’s?
No, I could never hate Natale and Sofia; they were like sisters to me. But would they hate me? They believe that the Venturi’s killed their parents and maybe they did, but I truly don’t think so. What Sergio had said made sense, why would the Venturi’s want to make enemies out of the Dal Monte’s?
Now my mother is dating the chief of police. That will put a strain on not only my relationship with Alphonso but also with the twins. If Mr. DuBois finds out about my relationship with them he’ll tell my mother who’ll ban me from seeing them and most likely hate me for not telling her the truth, although that would make her a hypocrite. Then she’ll tell my father who will then never speak to me again for lying to him.
I sat up with a gasp. My father! He said he would call me and tell me if he had found anything out about the artifacts. That reminds me, I should really ask Alphonso what he knows, which is obviously a lot.
Oh, how did I get mixed up in all this? I wish I could go back to when life was normal. Now I’m starting to think my second life is more relaxed than this.
Now let’s see, I could tell my mother about dating Alphonso and hope that she doesn’t tell her boy toy about it, so she can go on being ignorant to his family’s affairs. I could tell Sofia and Natale as well and hope that they understand. Maybe I could try to convince them to believe the Venturi’s about their parents.
I moaned and buried my face into the pillow. My head hurts. Everything’s so hard and confusing. The only time I get any peace is when I’m with Alphonso, and that’s only because his kisses were so damn good I could hardly breathe let alone think.
My back stiffened when I heard the door open and close. I could hear Alphonso shifting around in the room before sitting down next to me.
“If you want, you can wear that home,” Alphonso said, meaning the baggy clothes I had on.
I smiled. “Thanks.”
A strong arm wrapped around my shoulder and pulled me to his chest. “Are you going to be okay?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I should probably get home and talk to my mom…” It was true; she and I would have to talk sometime. I just didn’t want to…
I stared at my house with a sickening feeling in my stomach. The police car was gone, so that mean that stupid boy toy –I mean, Andre DuBois- was gone. I worried my bottom lip between my teeth. I turned back towards Alphonso on his bike.
“Maybe this is a bad idea,” I said while starting to put his helmet back on. “I think I might need another day or two…”
Alphonso chuckled before taking the helmet from my hands. “You can do this Jackie.” He pushed a stray hair behind my ear. “If anything happens just give me a call.” I nodded my head and slowly started walking to the front door. “You’re not walking to your death, Jackie!” I threw a glare over my shoulder and hurried my steps. I stopped. Then I turned around and ran back to Alphonso.
“I just need two more minutes,” I said. He shook his head and got of his bike. He suddenly threw me over his shoulder and started walking to my house. “Hey! Put me down!”
We made it to my front door and Alphonso set me down, keeping his hands firmly on my shoulder. “Jackie, it’s your mother. You stood up to my parents, and yelled at Luca, and you always get into fights with Madison. Why are you so scared?”
“Well…” I rolled the question around in my head. Why was I so afraid? “She has the power to ground me…”
Alphonso just shook has head and started to leave. He pointed a finger at me. “Stay,” he commanded. I growled. What is with people and treating me like a dog?
I stiffened when the door suddenly opened. I turned and came face to face with my mother. I gulped. “H-Hi mommy…”
My mother pulled me into her arm and held me tightly. “I’m sorry,” she whispered into my hair. “I never meant to hurt you, Jackie. It wasn’t my intention…”
I hesitantly returned her embrace. “It’s okay mom…”
She pulled away and patted my cheek gently. “I’m going to tell you everything, okay? We’re going to sit on the couch with some hot coco and big chocolate cake I just made and talk.”
I nodded me head and let her lead me into the house. I turned back to see that Alphonso was already gone.
Okay, so I hope you all liked this chapter. Congrats to everyone who caught on that the man was Clement's father. I'll try to get the next chapter up sometime next week, before the weekend. Next Sat. I'm leaving for vacation and wont be back for a week or two.
FAQ
Who is Jackie going to end up with?
Well, I can't really answer that because that would ruin to whole story... It may be the obvious, it may not be. (smiles evily)
Why is Alphonso always contradicting himself?
Well, with Jackie he tries to be understanding, but he's not use to caring about someone elses wants. He wants to be with Jackie and he doesn't like when things don't go his way, so he does end up contradicting himself in ways.
The name Alphonso reminds me of Fonzie
haha, yes I know. But Fonzie's real name was Arthur, but I get what you mean. Fonzie sounds like it could be a nickname for Alphonso.
When is Jackie going to tell Alphonso about Rome?
I don't even know. The story, right now, is taking place sometime in Spetember so Rome is pretty far off right now and its not the first thing on her mind at the moment.
When in Italy will the great mafia be there?
Once again, Ital is still far off. The story will probably end before Jackie even gets there. BUT I already have some ideas for a sequel, so you never know...
What's with Haruka and Jackie's mom?
Well, you just found out about what's up with Jackie mom, lol. Haruka, though, is still an enigma. More will be found out about her. Let's just say that there is A LOT more to Haruka than Jackie and everyone knows.
Do the Dal Monte's have something to do with the stolen artifacts?
Once again, you'll just have to see. It will be explained later on, and it IS important, so don't forget about it!
