the quiet is unnerving
the night's filled with false pretenses
just separate our love
for each other in between
by building bridges and fences
which is always separated
by two hours of lonely highway
the next time you come down
the next time you ask
i'll just sit, relax and it'll be o.k.
you are always unbelievable
giving folks chance after chance
how many times can you stand
to hear 'em
sing the same song
to see 'em
dance the same dance
and if you're not getting the picture
this poem is geared towards you
purposely written in this fashion
for one particular person
to get the clear cut view
your pant leg overlapped your shoe
your shoe began overlapping the ground
like the capital's steamed patriarchy
burning down the course of my throat
and reckons a crippling creaking sound
the situation captured in street lamps
and captured like a moth with a net
'cause we all know that
love ain't the reason i get up in the morning
why get up and break the sweat?
you protest that you're such a romantic
that's just what you do
and you proclaim to me
"babe if you fall asleep
i'll be here to catch you"
