Ok, so this is my first ever submission to Fiction Press!! Yay!!

This is the prologue to my NaNoWriMo novel ( for those who don’t know). Not too much going on in this first chapter, but sort of important (describes the main character etc etc XD)

Review!!!! (please... you know you love me haha)

Prologue

In the Beginning

The year was 1970. Up until this point, I had lived what I thought to be a fairly decent life, but seriously lacking in some aspects, with a ton of low points, most of which were occurring now. This past September I had turned 18, a legal adult in most cases, but unfortunately not old enough to drink (although I had been doing so for the past couple years anyway). I used to have a girlfriend, Samantha, whom I’d been seeing for roughly 2 months until one day she decided she was no longer interested in me, even though I was still very much interested in her. I still lived with my parents, and had ever since I dropped out of school back in ’66. I used to have a job, but quit when the manager told me I had to change my looks. I didn’t look bad; I just didn’t look like somebody who would be a decent worker. What most people saw as a poor attempt at being a hippie (even though it was past the 60’s, I still dressed that way), I saw as the epitome of fashion. I had this soft, floppy sort of hair that, well, flopped. I dressed somewhat decently; my wardrobe consisted mostly of t-shirts and loose jeans, along with about four pairs of Converse, all a different color. So I wasn’t the worst dressed one out there, but apparently it wasn’t good enough for the people at McDonalds, the newest restaurant in town (which, might I mention, was pretty sad, considering every other town had one).

But I’m getting off track.

Just a month after I had had my birthday, things started going downhill. And that is where this story begins.
