Finding Fiction:
The Fiction Press Story
James Andrews was sitting around his house. Nothing to do but sit. Nothing on the tube. The only thing he could do was eat, sleep, or sit. Or watch infomercials. It's three A.M. nothing to do. James' parents were out of town.
Thank God his parents weren't home. Whenever they were the house was chaos. Nothing but chaotic nonsense all the way up to and through the early hours of the morning.
His parents didn't get along. His parents were divorced once, but after thinking they could work things out they got back together. Not a smart idea. His parent are always at eachothers throats.
The parents will never admit to this mistake though. They would look like idiots if they divorced EACHOTHER a SECOND time. There was always bickering and little jabs to hurt the other one's pride. Nothing too bad, but enough to drive an innocent bystander insane.
James was finally alone, but now all he was wishing for was chaos. Or something, something to wake his mind up.
He could go on the computer. He always only used to for email. He though Instant Messaging was annoying. He decided he would dedicate this morning to looking for a website.
He had never actually gone online looking for things unless is was for research. Using it for recreation seemed odd to him. Who knows maybe he will find something, SOMETHING to keep his insomniatic mind something to focus on.
James explored Youtube, Google Images, Google Earth, even a little Xtube.
He got bored with the computer pretty quickly and it was five a.m.
He turned off the computer and walked into the living room. To get to the living room James had to pass his library. The library that he completed reading a year ago. He only owned maybe one hundred books. So the library was pretty useless now.
Wait a tick...
He had known that you could find almost anything on the internet. Could he find something to read?
James searched and searched for something. Nothing really sparked his interest. As a writer himself he wanted something that people like him had written.
He came across it was, heaven on earth. Stories by the thousands, every single one is different than the other. Why? For one reason and one reason only. Everybody on the website is different and sees life differently. They aren't commercialized authors that get sloppy towards the end of their career. They are people who have written extraordinary pieces of literature and wanted to share it with the world.
