A/N: Yay! I'm updating... This may seem different than the other chapters, but it could be because I haven't written in so long. Sorry if the characters are a bit OOC.
Yvonne popped up out of no where, and she groaned. Hungry as she was, she was even more anxious to not have to be in the same room as the french skank. As she heard the hesitant, "Isabella." She stopped, but didn't turn around. She heard the skank's footsteps until they stopped right behind her. "Isabella," she started again, "I know you don't like me... I wouldn't like me either. I just wanted to tell you..." She hesitated and looked around, making sure Henry wasn't near. Henry was being a cochon. A pig. "... that I am sorry. I ... I didn't know Henry had a family."
Bella froze at the words and slowly turned to face her. She looked honest and not as bad as Bella had made her out to in her mind, but she wasn't about to go hugging her and calling her mom. "Listen, sk- Yvonne. I bet that you probably didn't know about us. But that doesn't change the fact that I want you both gone. Your being here drove my mom out. And if you want the truth, you're not the first woman he's had an affair with and you won't be the last. My advice is just to drop him..." she hesitated to say the rest, but dammit she just wanted this over, "...you can do better than a guy that'll cheat on you when he leaves the country." With that, she turned and grabbed her backpack.
Unfortunately, she walked into Henry. She impatiently sighed up at him. "I'm going to be late." She lied; she still had plenty of time.
"Fine... Isabella... I'm disappointed at the way everything has turned out." He said as he moved aside.
Bella shook her head and pushed passed him; even his skank had the decency to apologize. "I just bet you are. I know I would hate getting caught cheating and having a divorce." she didn't stick around for his answer, instead she walked out and slammed the door behind her.
She hardly acknowledged him with a slight nod and kept walking at a ferocious pace. "Nothing."
Marcus decided Ethan would survive without him and jogged to catch up with Bella. She was cute when she was mad. He'd come to the conclusion that just because he wasn't going to act on his feelings for her, it didn't mean he could stop having them. "Aren't you charming this morning?"
She gave him a glare and walked faster. "Why are you walking with me?"
He had no idea. "Because I thought we were supposed to spend a bunch of time together. After all, I am shadowing you."
"Are you? I didn't know we'd worked out the details." If she moved any faster, she'd be running. He looked like he was taking a casual walk. Damn his longer legs.
"Well, I figured since you have a job and I don't, it would make things easier on both of us." He replied with a cheeky grin.
She narrowed her eyes at him; since when did he act like this? "You're acting wierd." And damn him again for the new attitude not taking away from her attraction for him.
"Am I? I hadn't realized we'd spent enough time together for you to know that. That's okay; I don't mind judgemental girls." She got this line right between her eyebrows when he baited her; he liked it. She shook her head and kept walking. Marcus pretended to take out a notebook, "Should this be a part of the paper? Is surly in morning..." he mock wrote.
She smiled despite her bad attitude. "I'm not always surly in the morning; just when I have a bad morning."
"Why was it a bad morning?" He asked curiously.
She just shook her head, "I don't want to talk about it."
He shrugged, and asked, "So... nice weather we're having, huh?"
She grinned again at his pathetic attempt at conversation and wondered how they'd gotten to a frienly-like place. Just a half hour ago she thought every minute spent with him would suck. Then she remembered why. Stupid almost kiss snuck right back into her mind. She glanced sideways at him. He didn't look as if he even remembered they almost kissed and fought yesterday. Maybe it was because it would make things so much easier if they just forgot it. Maybe... she was just imaginging a kiss and he didn't really lean toward her or anything.
No. It happened. She was 98 sure, and that was good enough for her. What didn't satisfy her was why it obviously didn't matter to him. She was probably making something really small into something big. Has she wanted him to kiss her? Yes. She most definitely had, even though she knew it was stupid. She hated wanting things that were stupid. Marcus had made-out with a bunch of girls, most likely have had sex and was all in all much more experienced than she was. She'd only kissed two guys in her life! Oh well, nothing was going to happen, anyway.
And he'd been a real jerk to Bella. He slammed the door shut and stormed to the living room, where he saw a blonde girl putting her stuff into a book bag. "Hey."
Arianna jumped and blushed. "Hi." She said quietly.
With a pout, Ethan sat on the couch next to where the was putting her books away and asked, "Have I seen you somewhere?"
She gave him a slight smile, "We go to school together."
He nodded, "Oh yeah. You're... Adrianna?"
"Arianna." She corrected and blushed again. "And you're Bella's brother."
He nodded, "Ethan." He supplied.
"I know." Her eyes widened and she put her attention back to putting her stuff away. At least he wasn't one of those guys who thought that because they were a super jock everyone should know who they were. She looked down, noting his lower lip in a pout that she found adorable. Blushing for a third time, she asked shyly, "Is something wrong?"
He raised his head to look at her, "Nothing I shouldn't have seen coming."
She nodded and slipped the straps of the back pack over her shoulders. "Sorry you're having a bad day." Shocked at herself for having a conversation with Ethan Kinney without stuttering or having made a mockery of herself, she quickly walked to the door.
Ethan watched her pale honey colored ponytail swish over her back; it was natural blonde, he noted. "Bye." He called right before the door swung shut. He looked around. Where did Marcus go?
Marcus saw Arianna practically run out of Bella's room when he opened the door. She'd occupied his mind all day for no reason in particular. And sometime between observing her struggle to roll out the basketballs and talking to her in English, he decided that all he wanted was a quick kiss. Just to know what she tasted like. He figured that once her did that, she would be out of his system. He just wasn't sure how he was going to do it...
Bella almost jumped when she saw Marcus approach her. Without saying anything, he perched himself next to her on the bed. She got warning butterflies in her stomach, but she ignored them. "Uh, hi?"
"Hey."
When he said nothing more and didn't do anything, she gave him a strange look and went back to her homework. But she couldn't concentrate. Why was he just sitting there? She looked at him again, "Can I ask you a question?"
He raised a brow, "Sure."
She took a deep breath and tried to crunch the butterflies. "Why did you almost kiss me yesterday?"
He definitely hadn't seen that one coming. "Er, we were laying on the ground and it just seemed natural..." he trailed off. This had gotten really awkward, really fast.
She nodded, and told herself it was good that he hadn't wanted to kiss her. Since she knew that he hadn't wanted to kiss her, then she knew that he didn't like her in any romantic way, so her feelings were one-sided. But instead of that making her feel better that it would be easier for her to get over him, it made her feel worse that her crush was unrequited.
Marcus watched her get lost in her own thoughts and decided that now would be a good time. Just quickly get it over with. He started to lean forward when the door opened and Ethan stood in the doorway.
Ethan felt relatively shocked to see his friend leaning over like he was about to kiss his sister. His jaw tightened, "Am I interrupting something?"
Bella shook herself out of her thoughts and looked over to her brother. This was the first time he'd spoken to her in days. "What?"
"Am I interrupting something between you two?"
Marcus stood up from the bed and stretched, "No. I came in to ask about something in English."
Suspicious, Ethan tilted his head, "Okay. Did you ask?"
"Uh, yeah. Thanks." He said to Bella and brushed passed Ethan on the way out.
Confused, Bella replied, "You're welcome?"
Ethan stood in the doorway for a minute longer before saying, "Sorry for treating you like that about dad."
Knowing how hard it was for an apology to be forced out of her brother, she smiled, "It's okay." As the door shut, she wondered, why did Marcus come into her room in the first place?
I love Ethan. Just thought I'd say that lol.
