Controversy

They say "be original" and

that free verse is best.

But quiet, young poet,

and let your mind rest.

They say one is tied up

with not much to say

if one writes a poem

the traditional way

with patterns in format

and patterns in rhyme.

But quiet, young poet,

you're wasting your time.

For is a poem original

just because I do

this?

or extend this line out until here and don't make it rhyme?

Hush, my young poet.

For, a poet that's true

can make patterns and schemes

say what he wants them to.
