The Setting Sun

I’m so tired of this.

Tired of wandering in the twilight.

For so long I have wished to dance among the golden rays of sun,

Like I did what seems like a lifetime ago…

But now every desperate attempt is in vain.

Always striving for perfection.

But always ending among the ashes.

To all those that have seen me they would not know of my distress.

Such a brilliant smile,

But that smile is fading…

I’m drowning in my mistakes.

The icy water is stilling my breath,

I can feel the devil’s fingertips slowly pulling me under,

As I’m forced to watch my dreams swirling in the icy currents,

Slowly being washed away…

Time is ticking slowly on,

Inch by inch the sun is sinking over the horizon.

My hope in the dawn is fading.

Oranges are tainted black and yellows are falling purple,

Twilight is coming and his grip is growing tighter…

My sun has come and gone in the blink of an eye.

Tears break the glass surface of the water,

My life is shown in the ripples of the water,

Slowly stretching to the horizon.

God, forgive me…

As the last ray sank over the horizon the nails of the hand dug in deep

And dragged her flailing body into the depths.

Her sun had finally set…
