Bloodsong

Cold hands brush over my face

Like a viper’s skin

Arms traced with translucent green lines

Empty, hungry veins.

One glance sends me tumbling

Over my feet, my words

Bending down to his rule

Locked within the hunter’s gaze

In a gilded cage

My hands gripped tight in his—my lock and chains.

In soft purity

Then in eager desire

He crushes his lips to mine

Thunder rumbles in his throat

Lightning enlivens his touch

We clash like fire and ice

Heated skin, cold stone

Like wolves, we struggle for dominance.

Stronger, faster, then I--he takes control

A fierce, beautiful lion moving in for the kill

He bends over my neck

His head—turned slightly to study the curve of veins, the pounding of skin

His hot, sweet breath over my cheek, past my ear

Gentle words flow

From a devil’s mouth, in an angel’s voice.

Bite me, O angel of darkness.

Let the blood flow, let my cries of pain run

Crimson, like the skin of an apple stabbed

He hesitates—to prolong the moment?

No, my sweet, to love you before mortality is lost.

His lips touch my skin

Cool drops of water

Teeth like knives graze—

Break the mortal shell

Revealing the soul beneath

A sigh shudders through me instead of a scream

As if I found this some sort of masochistic pleasure

Blood pools from the wound and he drinks his fill

Hearing it sing as it pounds from the veins

A heart’s beat.

Cold blood flows, pain is lost...

Sunlight burns my sight

Cruel bloodlust--the huntress begs for release

From the fires of hell...

It all begins now in this embrace:

Fires kindle,

Hearts seize

Bodies scarred with bloodstained lips.

Scarred with a vampire's kiss.
