Red Apples Upon Silver Knives

Red apples fall

Upon silver knives

Bleed crimson blood

Upon this ground.

Autumn is new and young

Leaves are turning, red and gold

And you lay unchanging, always as you are

Because you’re gone.

Could you rise from your lonely crypt?

Kiss me goodbye

Let me feel your cold lips

Bleed against mine.

Let your fingers

Cut my skin,

Peel open old scars

You can do all you like

But you’ll never open this heart.

My heart’s locked with your own lock and key

Did you forget the magic word, the password to your affection?

Because God knows I’ve forgotten

Even though I wrote it down.

Could you rise from your lonely crypt?

Kiss me goodbye

Let me feel your cold lips

Bleed against mine.

I fold my hands in prayer

Break my fingers

From holding yours so tight

Cry out to God but he ain’t there.

Red apples fall

Upon silver knives

Bleed crimson blood

Upon this locked heart.

Must I bleed for you?

For you to…

To…

Rise from your lonely crypt

Kiss me goodbye

Let me feel your cold lips

Against mine one more time.

Winter is new and young

Snow is turning red

With the sun's gold blood

And us two lovers lay unchanging, always as we are

Wrapped in each other’s embrace.

Forever...

Forever…

Because we’re dead and gone.
