The Violin's Cry

Jenny Valentine

Spread the distance and walk,
walk away, or be let down
in a heart beat’s moment.

Starting over, you want to start over?
Oh, but dearest darling,
new beginnings won’t
change the inevitable ending.

Please, you must realize that
of all the pleasant memories, they too fade
into a distant haze, just as
Autumn leaves— departing and changing,
withering away, only to be forgotten
once Dusk rolls over the Dreary Day.

In the end, dearest darling—
new mishaps and reliving
different hardships— I tell you:
none of it will matter
once you find and meet time’s finish.

Running, running quickly now
and in the shadows,
your curt brush with destiny
finally collided with your future’s fate.

But oh, so suddenly it all occurred.

Calling for you,
playing the violin’s cry,
hoping it will reach you
in the deepest of caves and seas.

I’m calling for you.
Calling, oh so ever calling—

However, the cry receives no
comforting reply. Forever and onward,
wondrously playing for the one who’s missed:
Dearest Darling.

Once upon a time, in a race to
reach you, the one dubbed “Dearest,”
Fate ran past, and claimed its prize.

Mindless sky, passing away the time—
it is where The Gods of the World
told me of no Heaven,
killing the everything of which was the
violin’s cry.

Due to a particular comment I recieved on another site, I am looking for critiques. If you don't have one, that's fine; a comment would be nice as well.
