Chapter 32
Everyone climbed on the plane the next morning. Riley had no idea what she was going to tell her parents. As of right now, they don't know what happened. And if they find out, they'll probably banish her from Jasmine. Riley sat on Ryan's lap in a leather bucket seat by a window. "Hey cutie." He wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Hey handsome. Ready to go home?" Riley kissed his cheek.
"Yes. Very much yes." He sighed. This whole week had been madness, and he couldn't help but think that it was all his fault. After all, he did bring Andrea. He felt sort of bad for Andrea. He had been to a mental health center his freshman year, (although Riley doesn't know this), for depression. He probably got let out early because he became, suddenly, extremely happy. Thinking back, he remembered it was Riley that made him happy. Jasmine slowly walked on the plane. Her stitches still hurt from the wound. She sat in the leather bench seat on the other side of the plane. Her aqua, blue jump suit popping out from the tan, leather seats. Her black hair was tied into a pony-tail. She breathed out. "Alright, let's go." Riley got up from Ryan's lap and sat in her own seat. She buckled herself in. Maybe this experience is a learning experience. She definitely learned a lot. She picked a piece of fuzz off of her Silver jeans and looked out the window. She squinted at the sun. Maybe this was supposed to happen. Maybe God was telling her to do something, or keep something. Her heart yearned for Ryan. Why didn't she see this coming?! God was trying to tell her that Ryan was the one all along! And since God put on one dramatic show, Riley must've been stubborn. She smiled, finally knowing where she's supposed to be: in Ryan's arms.
When the plane rose to flying level, the seat belt signs went off in the cabin. Riley quickly unbuckled her seat belt and shook Ryan awake. "Hey baby, wanna join a club with me?"
He looked at her in confusion. "A what?"
She ripped off his seat belt and flung him out of the chair. She dragged him up to the big bathroom behind the bar on the top floor. "Hey! Where's the fire?"
"In me." She breathed heavily. Now that she knew that Ryan was the one she was looking for, she wanted to give him everything. Absalutely everything. She pulled his shirt off.
"Let's join the mile-high club." She grinned at him, kissing his chest. He grinned, devilishly. "You got it, fox."
Four Months Later
Ryan ran in the store and the little bell dinged. “Hello, sir! Welcome, come on in!” The clerk in a navy blue suit greeted. Ryan lowered the hood on his jacket. It was raining pigs and horses outside, and Christmas was about a week away. He had to find the perfect ring for Riley. Now I know what you are thinking, he isn’t proposing to her; yet. He decided he would buy a promise ring for her. A ring she can wear everyday promising to always be his;even when she leaves for college. So far, they both know that they want to go to different colleges. Riley has her heart set for Northwestern, and Ryan has no idea where he’s going. Maybe he’ll go to some private school in their hometown or he might go to Harvard. If his grades are right, he can go anywhere. “Can I help you?” The lady smiled. Her white teeth matching her white, blonde hair.
“Yes, I would like to buy a ring for my girlfriend.” Ryan beamed. Calling Riley his girlfriend never gets old.
“Oh, like an engagement ring?”
“No, more like a promise ring. A ring that will make her promise that she’ll always be mine, until I buy an engagement ring.” Ryan laughed. “I’m not ready for marriage yet, and engagement rings are expensive.”
The lady smiled, “Well let’s see what we have! What kind of band are you looking for, particularly?”
“Silver.” He leaned on the counter and gazed at all the rings under the glass.
“Okay, diamond?”
“Probably not. It screams engagement.”
“Of course.” She laughed.
“How about a ruby or something?” Ryan suggested.
“Perfect! Do you know what color?”
Ryan thought for a moment. He could get her birthstone, but then that would be too much like a gift her grandmother would get her. He could get her his birthstone, but that would be selfish and weird. And besides, his birthday was the day Riley met Andrea. And Ryan would rather not think about Andrea, much less see her again. He actually wished she was dead, but since she was sentenced to stay in a mental hospital somewhere in Montana, he doubted she was. He decided to get her favorite color. “Yeah, purple.”
The lady picked out a ring that fitted his request. “How about this one? It’s roughly around 500 dollars.”
“It’s perfect.” Ryan let out a sigh of relief. He was afraid that it was going to take him forever to find one. But something about this ring screamed Riley. He was sure she was going to love it. “Good, I’ll ring it up for you.” The lady put it in a black, velvet box and brought it to the register. Ryan slowly walked to the register and briefly glanced at all the other jewelry in the store. He didn’t want to look any more because it was possible to find another ring that screamed Riley. And even though he was shopping for the potential love of his life – his soul mate – he wanted to get out of that store as soon as possible. Something about jewelry stores made his eyes, and wallet, hurt. “Would that be cash or credit?” She asked.
“Credit.” He pulled out his wallet. He handed her his credit card. Just then, the bell dinged. Cold air and rain exploded through the store. Next came in a tall, anorexic looking girl with long, jet black hair.
