D.N.: Hello to you all!! This story is actually being re-vised and whatnot (as in a lot of my stories) simply because I wrote a lot of these during my late years of middle school (meaning a LONG time ago) or my early years of high school (considering I'm a Junior now...yeah, a while ago). Hope you like it and I'm sorry if I update slowly, I have a lot of things to do in life...either that or I got distractd. Most likely the second reason.
Full Summary: Set in the year 2112, a distant land where vampires and the occult are the norm, 19 year old Deon, a victim of a vampire attack at the age of 10, he is taken under the wing of young Fallon Negrescu, daughter to Alvah Negrescu, a royal member of a glorious bloodline dating back to the Dark Ages and most commonly known as, 'the Sage'. Seeking vengeance on all vampires alike, Deon must first liberate himself from Fallon's grasp in order to fufil his desired destiny. The first on his list is Fallon herself who is not all blind to her servant's true intentions and excitedly invites him to do just that, if he can bring himself to hold a sword against her when the right time comes. She tests his humanity, drives him to the brink of insanity and lust and challenges his temper every chance she gets. Can Deon bring himself to kill the very vampire who saved his life all those years ago? What exactly is it that Fallon plans to do with him?
Prologue: The Choice
My life, shattered before my very eyes and I had not lived for more than ten years. Was this to be my end? To be slaughtered like some animal?
There was fire everywhere, screams and the sounds of cutting flesh. What had happened, was this really happening? Right here, right now? Were we really being attacked by what we have known to fear for thousands of years, to be slaughtered by vampires?
I was lying on the ground, my side split open, the taste of iron in my mouth and the burning sensation I felt on my back. Ah, yes, that's right. I was running earlier and something hit me, I remeber falling to the ground to realize a burning doorway had fallen on me. Where was my mom? My dad? Where was Sophie and Luke? My brother and sister, both whom I had originally thought were running right next to me.
"Oh my, my, my, what do we have here? A little lamb caught in the flames, is it?"
I look up slowly to see a tall, youthful looking young man, staring down at me with a smile. Unscathed, fresh and I could tell, even from the ground, bleeding to death, that this man was no human. He was a vampire. I didn't have enough energy to lash out at him, to say all the curses that were running in my head and I tried with all my might to glare up at him. I recieved a curious look from the black suited man, whose white scarf bellowed in the fiery winds around us.
"My, you have that much energy to scowl at me, human boy?" he teased, his smile never fading.
It was then that his gaze went from me to his right and it surprised me that he suddenly bowed graciously, a white gloved hand on his chest.
"Adrian, what is it that you are doing? Father strictly ordered you to stay by my side," a light voice suddenly said.
I could tell by the way they spoke and the way their voice danced around ever so lightly, that it was a girl. Even a ten year old like myself would understand that much. My sister often spoke like that, however, unlike my sister, who was a normal girl like any other, this voice was sharp, percise and mature, somehow fitting in with the high voice that approached us.
"Ah, Young Mistress Fallon, there was no need to leave the car, please return-"
The tall man was interrupted by the young girl who I could clearly see now as she approached. She was hard to not notice, amidst this fiery Hell stood a girl no older than I. A pretty little thing she was, small even for her age. White. That's all I could see of her. Frilled petticoats, laces and a shining gown that reached just above her knees with matching white stockings and black buckled shoes with small heels in the back. I noticed everything about her.
To my ten year old self at the brink of death, I could've mistakened her for an angel. An angel with blood colored eyes and hair that rivaled the darkness of the night sky. Fair skin shined from behind her black hair, delicate all around.
"Who is this?" she asked, finally taking notice in me.
I was surprised that I had managed to stay conscious for so long. I could feel my body relaxing under the board and my body going numb. The pain at my side was diminishing and I felt exhaustion tugging at the corners of my eyes. I was dying, that's what I was and it was then that I realized the scary truth of it all. I was dying. Panic began to rush through me but I was far too tired to express it.
"He's quite an interesting one, he had enough energy to send me a hateful glare," the man joked, nudging a head towards me.
"Hmm, well, you are a hateful person Adrian, it's no surprise that you'd receive a glare from him," I could hear the girl joke back.
Her gaze returned to me and I felt a cold shiver go up my broken spine. Her feline like eyes stared right at me, locked onto my own green orbs. If she was a vampire like this man, then I would show no fear, even to her. I simply glared back at her, remembering who it was that left me, no, my village, in such a state.
I received a giggle from the girl who delicately held a lacy white gloved hand to her pink lips. I could see behind her smile the sharp fangs protruding behind those pretty lips of hers and I felt a surge of anger rise within me. She was a vampire!
"Y-You..." I chocked, "...vampires....I-I'll...I'll KILL YOU ALL!"
I had said it with all the strength in me. I hadn't realized how tiring it was to just speak, let alone to open my mouth and produce the voice that I had kept back.
"Ho? That's quite an interesting thing to say, little boy, then I'll give you something good. I'll let you live, in fact, I'll save you personally while still keeping your humanity intact, in exchange, you are to serve under me until I see fit, agreed?" I could hear her say.
I didn't say anything back but continued to stare back at her, our eyes locked onto each other's. That was more than enough, she understood my acceptance.
My life ended on that day and I was reborn anew the next. No longer the innocent child that I once was and reborn as a man, a man who vowed to kill all vampires in existence, starting with this one.
D.M.: Short, yes, I know, but it's a prologue so it's supposed to be short (in my opinion). Yes, I changed it from the original but the GOOD thing is that I plan to make this a lot longer than a regular short story that I had intentionally planned it to be, so it's not a very big loss in my opinion O.o
Hope to see you soon!
