A Peace of Mind”

The black tendrils take hold, and you let them
Like the fingers of Death finally claming you
Taking you to an eternal abyss, an endless darkness
Drifting, you wonder if you will be saved

Ah, but that is the problem, isn’t it?
You do not wish to be saved, isn’t that so?
You seek a freedom in this undying emptiness
Where you can no longer feel yourself

No longer do you care what has been done
You are separated from the world that was
The world that you once embraced openly
Where you wanted to see the illuminating hope

“Am I forgotten yet?” you ask the shadows around you
When there is no answer, you realize you truly are free
Alone forever in this void of your own choosing
Is that a smile? Are you finally at peace now?
