Dear Pain,

Why won’t you let me sleep?

You disturb every part of my existence.

Every movement,

Every thought,

Every memory,

Every dream.

I try to swat you away,

But my blows go right through you,

As if you were smoke,

A fog surrounding my consciousness,

Closing in,

About to suffocate me.

Your friends,

Depression and Sorrow,

Tag along beside you,

Destroying any part of being

That you had kindly ignored.

Why won’t you leave me alone?

Do you take pleasure

Out of seeing me

Suffer?

Do you enjoy making my life a

Living

Eternal

Nightmare?

-Susannah Simon

PS:

What have you done with

Hope?
