Chasing Rainbows

If colours were love

What colour would I be?

Red? The colour of blood

Of our life support

But also of rage,

Unexplainable fury

Driving us to madness

Blue? The sky on a clear day

The serenity of the sea

And sadness, our hearts throbbing

Tears sliding down a cheek

Only the living mourn the dead

Green? The essence of nature,

A tree in spring, singing of life to come

A fatal illness, ready to tear a family apart

Gripping the edge of consciousness

Braced to act

White? The purest shade

Unspoiled, raw

Insanity, hate to stay focused

Stare at the blank wall

An endless monotony

Chasing rainbows, realizing there is no

One colour, just hold your breath

And dive into an ocean of colour

And a sea of love
