Acrid Assassination

Chapter 4 Poem

Danger surrounds you on all sides,

reflexes have to be fast.

There’s no time for mercy.

No time to dwell on the past.

A flash of silver speed,

a quick reaction to the shot.

You have no time to aim,

so pray with all you’ve got.

Keep your guns close,

bullets by the pack.

Watch for glints of light from scopes,

and make sure you don’t look back.

Your friends should be alerted.

They’re in as much peril as you.

Make sure they know of the danger.

Be sure they know what to do.

It’s your job to protect others,

even if it puts you in the way.

If you’re good at what you do,

you may just live another day.
