Looking Into the Horizon
Author:
RainbowHearts PM
Written about my grandmother, who passed away a couple of years ago. I feel that when she was alive, I didn't go and see her and spend much time with her, even though she lived right down the street from me. I wish I had more time with her now.

I stand here wiggling my toes in the wet sand,

I feel the tide ripple around my ankles,

I am looking into the horizon at the setting sun,

I'm thinking of you,

I'm waiting for you.

You had always come before,

You had always waited so patiently,

I planned to come every time

But the hustle and bustle of the world caught me first,

I never meant to hurt you,

I never meant to leave you standing alone in the dark.

Now you're gone,

And I've lost my chance to watch the sunset with you,

I wish you were here now,

I wish you could wiggle your toes in the sand with me

As we walk along the shore telling each other stories.

I am so sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me,

I realize now that I needed you too,

And I still do.

One day we will see each other again,

And I promise I won't pass up the chance to spend time talking to you,

Or just watching the horizon with you.

I miss you.

I love you.
