CAMBODIA

I wrote this after we discussed Saloth Sar, alias Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge reign in GP class.

Heaps of dusty skulls

Gapping grinning maws

Plies of broken bones

Air echoes with groans

Bloodstains in the ground

Having long turned brown

Mute victims suffered

Their hopes be muffled

The world watches on

As families were torn

Powers calmly dine,

Bigger fish to fry

Utopia now bared:

This is their nightmare

Backs broke beneath weights

Wretched are their fates

Grotesque skeletons

Were once healthy men

Nameless corpses thrive

Dead babes once alive

Cambodia the pawn—

Angka’s pride they fawn.
