Subtle nuances of destiny are floating between us
like fallen petals on the mighty river -
naked and free and toward worlds they've never imagined.
But Destiny can be a cruel mistress
dragging her victim through danger and turmoil and
those deepest places in Hell
before granting a moment's stolen peace.
And so I wonder what becomes of the petals,
so beautiful when they've fallen -
like promises from the lips of the Saviour,
when Destiny is finished with them.
