Automobiles and ocean liners
Diesel trucks and speeding trains
Text messages and DVR
Is that what the nature of progress is?
Or is it grass growing through cracks on sidewalks
Smog so heavy you can’t breath in the air around you
Skyscrapers blocking the skyline from view
Is that the truth of progress?

Forget the days of grass so tall it reaches your knees
Don't think about woods you could lose yourself in days
Don't imagine horseback rides and picnics
Go with the future
Let your children grow up in parks of concrete
Believe in the future with no stars in the sky
Don't blink at another forest being cut down
And the human race could progress a little bit more

Who cares about the future
Why worry about the fate of the next generation
We don't need to feel bad about anything
After all, it’s all in the name of Progress
