THE INTOLERABLE GENERATION

Why must progress falter?
Splendor of recent generations,
Consumed by insatiable consumerism.
Material obesity knows no limitations!

Why must America digress?
Coupled centuries, a decade, more,
We achieve our pinnacle.
A tenth of other Civilization’s score!

Why must Americans grow weary?
Death and sacrifice bled a path,
Of global respect and envy.
Social Darwinists have yet to taste wrath!

Why are Americans solemn?
Greeks/Romans provide lessons for liberation;
Yet, Idleness and indifference flow plenty.
Each day our enemy strengthens a wealthy congregation!

With frustration and regret, it must be
I am beholden to the Intolerable Generation?
