unpoem

i've never written a poem about you,
so i guess you don't matter.

you see, when i like someone as much as i liked you,
i should find myself trying to get their beauty down on paper,
to immortalize them in my verse.

and when someone rejects me as harshly as you rejected me,
i usually want to write out the pain i feel,
to tell others about their cruelty.

but,
clearly,
you weren't beautiful enough
or cruel enough
for a poem.

or maybe that's not it.
maybe there is no poem because i can't find the words to express
who you are, and what you did to me.

maybe there are no words that can describe
what i feel about you.
