No Next Time

By NationChild

Created on December 12th, 2007

A/N: This is a diamond story that I did for my English class. For those of you who don’t know, a diamond story is a story that has maximum ten or eleven words on a line. You start out with one word on a line, then two on the next line, and so on. Once you get up to ten or eleven words to a line, you have to go back down again: nine or ten words to a line. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this!

“Hey!”

She turned.

“What is it?”

“I still hate you.”

He had a soft tone.

Grinning, she raised her eyebrows questioningly.

“And you better remember that, eh Dawn?”

“You don’t gotta worry ‘bout that, Tim, okay?”

He nodded briskly, then marched towards the main doors.

He marched, just like the trained, dedicated ex-soldier he was.

Dawn almost didn’t catch the mumbled “Thank you” as he passed.

Then he was out the double doors, hailing a cab.

Without thinking, she rushed out the doors, after him.

It was a rainy evening; she was soaked.

He had no luck hailing a taxi.

“Next time you’re in trouble, call.”

Corners of his mouth rose.

“Ain’t no next time.”

“Sure there’ll be.

He hesitated.

“Nah.”
