Growing Up

Once upon a time doesn't actually make sense
The fairytales you read to me were all a pretence
Now I realise how the little mermaid drowned
And to be a wise king you need more than a crown
Baa baa black sheep was racially abused
The so-called wicked witches were old and confused
Rapunzel cut her hair to give to charity
Crystal balls never gave knowledge or clarity
Ring a ring of roses and violets are blue
Even a mouse couldn't live in a shoe
This little piggy will soon be pork chops
There was no porridge - the three bears ate Goldilocks
Wishes aren't granted by genies or stars
The pied piper has an electric guitar
Rock a by baby fell from the tree
Its mother was stoned, another teen tragedy
Beautiful girls aren't always good
Hansel and Gretel starved in the wood
Jack died soon after he fell down the hill
His sister had pushed him: cruel, jealous Jill
Prince Charming only wanted the sex
He cheated on Sleeping Beauty with his ex
Snow White was a prostitute, Belle loved a beast
Neverland isn't north by northeast
The pea that the princess could feel was a dream
Cinderella's suicide was low self-esteem
We all fall down and sleep hereafter
Not everyone lives happily ever after
