This is just a bunch of my thoughts that have always lingered in my head, and, let me tell you, I don’t think anyone could ever understand what’s going on in my head, including me.

THE WHEEL OF TIME

- - -

And Parmenides had right believing that
change is merely an illusion

because

Nero is still playing the harp while Rome burns
Napoleon is still marching through France
Hitler is still discussing his ideology at the dinner table
Franco is still writing death sentences while eating breakfast
and we are still killing for peace

does the end ever justify the means?

(is what you should ask George W. Bush
and the people living in Iraq)

-

there’s a serpent writhing on red ground
swallowing its own tail in a
chain of wars and the spaces between them
eternity stretching and stretching until it
starts at the beginning
again

and we don’t ever learn
even though nothing ever changes

but I guess I’d rather die than fade away

into entity and hypocrisy and
if no one knows you exist
are you just a fragment of your own imagination?

-

the Wheel of Time is turning
while the earth is burning
and we are merely trying
(though not always aware of it)
to stay alive

perhaps Robert Jordan should be declared the new prophet

-

inhale . . . exhale . . . inhale . . . exhale . . .
every moment of every day

-

this world keeps turning around and around and around
and I just can't stand it
(but it has all faded into bitter acceptance)

and my thirteen-year-old brother is getting high
there are so many ways to escape reality, don’t you agree?

-

why does everyone always blame God?
(forgive me, Father, for I have sinned)
why can't they realize there is

no one but us left to blame

A/N: I read somewhere that Francisco Franco wrote death sentences while eating breakfast, but I have no idea if it’s true. I’m not an expert on that particular subject. I took Nero and the harp from Interview with the Vampire; I’ve no idea if that’s right either, but I’m assuming it is. I do know a great deal about Hitler and his discussions at the dinner tables, however, so I know I got that right, at least.
I got inspiration about the Wheel of Time partly by Robert Jordan (although, you may correct me if I’m wrong, because I’ve only read two of his books once), and partly by the Ouroboros, and ancient symbol symbolizing cyclicality, unity and infinity.
Thirteen-year-old brother getting high? Well, let’s just say that I am an expert on that subject.

I'm not sure if this makes any sense whatsoever, but I did edit and re-edit it at least a dozen times, so I hope it’s not complete and utter trash. Do tell me if it is, though.

And by the way, I hope no one was offended by the mentioning of a couple of dictators, or George W. Bush, or the declaring of a new prophet, among other things... lol

Feedback is welcome.
