I am a statistic

Though I’m not a statistic

But by not being a statistic

I am one

I’ve never tried to kill myself

I’ve never touched those drugs

I don’t drink

I don’t drive

I only ever hurt inside

So I'm not a statistic

But it really is majestic

Cuz though I’m not a statistic

I am one

If you’re not a statistic

It’s much too late for that

Because somewhere

Somehow

You are a statistic

This way or that way

It doesn’t matter which way

But anyway or no way

You are one

If 12 percent

Of young uns die

By slitting through their wrists

What happens to the other

88 percent?

Are they so innocent

And white as chalk

So as not to be considered?

Are they so insignificant

To simply be forgotten?

They that 19 percent of driving teens

Have died while being intoxicated

But why not say that 81 percent

Were soberingly sober?

So if you’re not a statistic

And you say you’re no statistic

You really are a statistic

In some stupid statistical way
