It is that time again
Football season
Walking into the horse-shoe stadium brings on
A blast of smells
l follow the smell of hamburgers and pretzels to the small concessions stand
I carry my hamburger and a large coke in my arms
As I make my way up to my seat
I find my seat and slowly lower myself onto the hard bench
And place my drink by my side
I take a bite out of my hamburger; enjoying the taste of the grill
Suddenly there is a roar as the Ohio State marching band takes the field
The band plays Le Regiment and begins to form the letters O-H-I-O
I leap up in my seat and cheer with the rest of the buckeye fans
When the tuba player goes to dot the “I”
In my haste to see that proud moment I don’t realize my drink falling to the ground
I don’t pay attention as the cold coke soaks my legs
Next comes the team and I cheer loudly amid the sea of scarlet and gray
I cheer as our offense pushes the opposing defense up against the end-zone
When half-time arrives I go and replace my fallen drink
Before quickly returning to my seat to sit out the rest of the game
And finally the band begins Chimes and Carmen Ohio, the alma mater
I sing along with pride as Ohio takes home another win
As the last note from the band fades away I slowly rise from my seat and stretch
It certainly isn’t pleasant sitting in those hard plastic seats
But it’s worth it to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes!
