State of Mind
Author:

The idea that I'm graduating in June frightens me a lot, so I wrote this quick little thing as a sort of comfort to all my worries. Dedicated lovingly to the magnificent class of 2008!

One must have a mind of truth,
Of melting time,
Of passing youth,

Of buttered hours, skipping years,
Of the future,
Of old fears,

Of children that we used to be,
Of legal age,
Of sights to see,

Of respect we all will gain,
Of bold chances,
Of growing pain,

Of the joy, and of the sorrow,
Of mounting nerves,
Of the vague tomorrow,

Of our much needed release,
Of our freedom,
Of our peace,

Of ease and bliss I hope we share,
Of realized dreams,
Of love and care,

Of hugs and tears and laughs with friends,
Of leaving here,
Of meeting ends,

So we may defy the truth
That time should steal
Our precious youth.
