X

Whether the Fire of Hell, If It Be Material Fire,

Can Burn the Wicked Spirits, that is to Say,

Devils, Who are Immaterial

Gnawing like a Spartan fox, the veins demand

their fill but they aren’t picky eaters. Give them

Drugs

A high; a low; a hit; a trip- so long as it’s going far away.

It may be called heroin chic, but really all the old clothes

just stop fitting and no one can afford new shoes. Give

Sex

Real; solo; phone; fake- so long as it fills the cracks and gaps.

Maybe it’s looking for love in all the wrong places, or maybe

it’s looking for punishment in all the right ones. Give them

Culture

The clothes; the jobs; the parties; the friends- so long as it looks damn good.

No one’s pretty on the inside, everyone really hates themselves deep down,

beauty isn’t even skin deep, it only goes as far as the cover-ups. Give them

Murphy’s Law

Everything that can be ingested, fronted, taken or forced will never be enough to quench the thirst that

ravages the bodies, will never quell the aching sores, will never slake the lust for more, will never give

Peace.
