“Ehh… Lexi? What are you doing?”

I jumped up from my crouching position, whirling around to look a friend in the eyes-in her very confused eyes.

I plastered on my biggest omg-I-totally-knew-you-were-right-there-duh-I’m-not-being-an-idiot-coz-I’m-too-awesome-oh-man-this-is-awkward smile and said, “I dropped my phone!” holding up my cell to her.

“Heh… okay, Lexi,” she shook her head. “See you in math.”

And at that note, she was lost in the sea of last-minute commuters on the road of the high-school hallways.

Turning back to my pervious direction, I scanned the area. Dammit… target lost, again.

Oh… yes, right.

My target, a boy, was my newest writing interest as of five days ago. That pretty much meant that I stalk him for literature material- it was my ingenious idea that brought on a lot of my inspiration!

But now, I had lost him.

So far, all I had was the physical material… 5’11, choppy black hair, and forest-green eyes. Nice body of perfectly chiseled muscles… dressed like he had money, but not too much money. A pretty sexy guy, right?

But what had really drawn me to include him as my perfect specimen was the fact that his personality rivaled that of a boiling rock!

No one liked this boy!

He was an outcast! Drawn aside from the general crowd, due to a lack in communication, an icy stare, and when you did get him to talk… well… not much on that yet, but he’s not too nice either!

Sure… a man of mystery, fun to write about. But this was hard! Frankly, my pursuit of Sexy-rock was overly difficult as far as my research usually went. But it was the beginning of my senior year… and I get bored. Also, there was such a sense of curiosity that enveloped the air around him, and it drew me in with its sweet aroma of discovery!

Striding with a purpose, I continued my route to find Sexy-rock. He had a certain habit of being hard to track; he slid in and out of the crowd with utter perfection. So a few corners later, I did manage to see him, well…to be more descriptive, we were seeing each other.

Ohhhh…. Awkward.

We were standing strangely close; my last turn had put me into this position. I looked up into his dark green irises, watching the forest that brewed within them.

“Hi there!” I said as normally as I could, forcing a smile.

His eyebrows raised, he smiled with amusement, and Sexy-rock pushed past me in unison with the tardy bell; I groaned. Time sucks.

But that’s why they made multiple lunches- the freedom to skip fifth period without worry. I headed off to go meet up with my friends.

Now… this had been the second time!

The second time that Sexy-rock and I had a confrontation- the first was a simple glance, accompanied with a smile.

But as I traversed the halls, I went asking around if anyone had any information on him, but there were few who were even aware of his name. At least there was progress in that category- I now knew his name.

Jonathyn.

Jonathyn Ashford.

What a perfect name for a perfect man.

In a month of observation, this was not much… but good enough. Sooner-or-later he would have to talk to me, if I pursued him enough.

But how would I approach him… we had no classes together…

“LEXI!”

My name ringed in my ears as I looked directly at Royce.

“What?”” I moaned, rubbing my forehead- the idiot had interrupted my train of thought.

Royce laughed awkwardly. “You… are a freak.”

“Because I think?” my eyebrow lifted.

“Because you think and block out the world, Lexi!” he ruffled my hair, pulling me back into the lunch line, pulling me back to reality.

“It helps me concentrate.”

We both grabbed our lunches, paying for them and ambling outside.

“Now…” he hummed, “what exactly do you concentrate on so?”

“Stuff.”

“Does it have anything to do with sexy rocks?”

I eyed him. The fool had been reading my notes again.

“I hate you,” I growled and walked faster.

“Well! To anyone beside yourself, a complete thought about Jonathyn Ashford wouldn’t go far. There’s not much to think about, really.”

We both took our place on a bench. “He’s quite interesting.”

“Hmm,” he mumbled through pizza.

“Well, first off,” I stated, “he’s drop-dead gorgeous, and not once has he dated a girl.”

“You know about his love life-?”

“SHH! All it takes is a few kids who knew him through school…” I lowered my voice. “You’re gonna make me look like a stalker.”

“You are.”

“Not… technically…Ok, I am. But that’s beside the point. Jonathyn Ashford…” I rolled the name throughout my mouth, mixing it with a bite of apple, frowning with the contaminated taste. I enjoyed the flavor of his name. “Jonathyn Ashford piques my curiosity.”

“You really are insane,” Royce grunted.

“It’s not insanity!” I glared.

“Oh, right,” with a sneer, he tapped my forehead. “It’s creative thinking.”

“Durr,” I tapped his head too. “And what do you do? Sit around and think about video games and naked ladies?”

He frowned. “You know a lot about people, Lexi Kendall. It’s a gift.”

“I knew it!!” I laughed.

“I’m being serious.” He pulled away and stuffed more pizza in his mouth, chewing it up before continuing. “You can talk with a person and get what they’re all about. I’m not saying all I think about is video games and naked chicks, but it’s pretty damn close,” he gave me a wink. “You are a personality genius.”

“Eh, it only takes a little curiosity.”

Royce smiled. “Just don’t let it kill you.”

“Yeah, yeah!” I smirked and let the rest of our conversation fall to the back of my head with thought.

At this rate- I was so dead.
