Wasting Time

All my thoughts are mixed up

I can’t keep them straight

My terrible luck

Is more than I can take.

I make a wish

As the dandelion seeds float in the sky

And I make another one when I find the first star of the night.

I go to sleep with one thought in my mind

And when I wake up I realize I’m wasting my time.

I could tell every star my desire

Write them down on paper and throw it in the fire

Use up all my candles on my birthday cakes

And sit up until 11:11, forcing myself to stay awake.

But I’ve found dreams are only for my own mind

And wishing is just wasting time.
