Her eyes looks so hungry
Paired with her matted hair
She has no shoes on her feet
She has no clothes to wear
She ran away from home
When she was just a teen
Her parents don't know or care
Where on earth she's been
Shimmering like emeralds
Glass lies at her feet
But for the rubbish around her
She has no food to eat
So tiny, so vulnerable
Inside, she's a little girl
She has no money
And she is so alone in the world.

I see you on the street
Your clothes are paper-thin

You look as though a nice, kind word

Would be gladly welcomed in

You're muttering quiet words

Your head and knees are bowed

I wish that I could help you

If only I knew how...
