The hardest words to say it seems

"I love you"

"I'm sorry"

No speeches in the world could hold

the meaning of these two things

And yet we fear to say them

we fear being loved

and we fear being wrong

And we fear everything in life

that could be put to song

The hardest things in life it seems

love and hate

guilt and peace

Everything in life I need

in existence will someday cease

And yet I still want these

to love, to hate

feel guilt, feel peace

Everything I want in life

will bring me to my knees

And the hardest thing in life, I know

is to tell me that you love me

and tell me that you're sorry

And I know these things are true

but I heard them not from you
