I'm considering writing a full story about this one day. If you think I should, then review please and give me your ideas for the storyline. I promise I'll take one or two!
PS: Don't get your hopes up though, because I have a tendency to take forever writing and re-writing longer stories.
REUNION
Jinn stumbled backward, landing on his back. He struggled to get up, using his staff as support. Meanwhile, the dark-haired young girl advanced on him, holding her spear with both hands, sweating just as heavily as he was. “What do you want?” he panted, his breath forming icy mists on the cold rooftop. “None of your business, Jinn.” She snarled. One foot in front of the other, she glared down at him. Taking the chance to scramble to his feet, he got his staff up just in time to avoid having his head cut off.
“How do you know my name?” he asked, backing away along the roof. She only grinned wolfishly, white teeth bared. He shivered. Not a real smile.
He glanced into her eyes, and then quickly experienced a sharp jolt run through him. No, it couldn’t’ be… But… it was…yet.. wasn’t at the same time. He shook his head, trying to focus. He couldn’t think about her right now! He had more pressing matters to worry about. And, the dark- haired girl’s next words only reminded him of the importance of those pressing matters.
“I’m going to kill you.” Her tone was soft, but the words held conviction. He stared at her. “I’m going to kill you.” She advanced towards him. He stumbled backwards, his eyes wide. Sure, they had been fighting for the past half an hour. But, somehow, he had never contemplated the fact that he might die, that such a young girl might actually kill him. But, as he looked once more into her eyes, dark, cold, soulless eyes, he understood that she might have a good chance at doing just that. He shivered.
He was going to die. He was going to die. He repeated those words over and over in his head. He was going to die. But, they still wouldn’t sink in. He was going to die.
Suddenly, the voice of his Master sounded from the opposite side of the rooftop, calling his name. “Jinn! Jinn!” A surge of hope rose within him as he heard his Master’s voice. “Master!” He called. “Master, I’m here!”
“Finally, Jinn! I found you! Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been?” his Master asked him as he climbed onto the rooftop. “And who is this?” he continued, looking questioningly at the girl with the spear. The girl jerked at the mention of herself. She turned to stare at the newcomer, and then back at Jinn. Apparently making a decision, she held up her spear and shouted “Scepter of Darkness, react to my hate! Teleport me back to the castle in which my master so resides!” As she chanted, the spear suddenly changed into a tall staff that oozed of a presence that made Jinn feel sick. Black tendrils shot out from the staff’s top end and engulfed the girl.
She gave Jinn one last look of pure loathing and said softly, for his ears alone “I will be back……….for revenge.” “What do you have against me?” whispered Jinn, staring hopelessly into her eyes.
“You know the reason deep within your heart.” She said. “But I shall give you a clue.”
She began to fade slowly, together with the blackness that had engulfed her moments before.
“My name is Shaiel and you are my elder brother….” She disappeared.
But her words continued to reverberate in his brain. Shaiel… elder brother…. “Oh no.” he whispered.
The night seemed even darker and more hopeless than before.
