Quick note: This is a play I wrote for school, that the drama department is preforming and is in the progress of getting published. When it is, then I'll probably have to take this off here, but I'll leave the information on where you can find it. Please read and review, but keep in mind this is my first written play and I've never had a drama class or instruction on how to write it in proper format. This is meant to be as long as one act (it is for the one act competition.), so only thirty minutes. Enjoy! ;'D

Scene One
Enter CYRUS, sitting on a jacket in the middle of the stage with the fireflies around him.
CYRUS: Even in the night people may be led astray by firelight,
And without a care for consequences,
Fall into a love that flutters more wildly than the fireflies.
NARRATOR enters the stage with the book in hand and sits on the edge of the stage. Looks at CYRUS and then out at the audience and starts to read from the book.NARRATOR: When we are born we only have half a soul. The other half is magnetized to the other in a pull that is unbelievably strong. However, when two halves meet and don’t stay together usually ends in the deaths of the two halves or the loss of their minds.
In one special case a half soul was accidentally duplicated so that two boys had the same half of a soul and a girl was born their match. The girl was forced to choose between the two boys. Destiny didn’t know what would happen to the boy who would have to be rejected. Eventually, the girl chose and the boy not picked was watched closely by destiny to see what would happen to him. First he was always tired and his body always felt weak. One night he went to bed never woke up again after that. He wasn’t dead, for he had a weak but still there pulse. He was put into a hospital as a coma patient.
However, he wasn’t like normal coma patient, after twenty years the boy hadn’t aged at all. Some doctors tried to experiment on him and found that they couldn’t, because an invisible force kept him from being in any kind of danger and eventually he was put in a room in the hospital, locked in, and forgotten over time. So, for sixty-one years he stayed in the room in a forever sleeping seventeen-year-old body. His incomplete soul was trapped in Limbo waiting for the day his other half would come looking for him. That is until the day when a certain confused and hurting girl came and found him…
CYRUS exits with all of his things and the scene changes. NARRATOR stays sitting on the edge of the stage with an amused smile as they looks at the audience.
NARRATOR: Sounds like this could be an interesting beginning to a good story.
Scene Two
In a hospital bed, REIGHLEE sighs and looks out at the audience and starts talking like she’s talking to them, but she is really talking to herself. Her arms are covered in white gauze. A music box is in her lap.
REIGHLEE: Honestly, I only fell out of the second story window and Everett thinks I needed an ambulance.
She looks off to the side
REIGHLEE: One broken arm, a couple cracked ribs, and a cut open thigh. Nothing too serious, (Pauses) nothing like all the past injuries I’ve gotten from my clumsiness. I think I might have broken this arm three times before today.
She looks down at her lap. The NARRATOR stands from their place at the edge of the stage with a sigh and goes and leans on the back of the bed.
NARRATOR: Right you’re clumsy. Are you sure about that?
REIGHLEE: I’m just clumsy. Right. Right? I’ve got to get out of this room. I’m starting to talk to myself…again.
She puts her music box on the table and exits her room and wonders down the halls of the hospital and ends up stopping at a door in an unlighted hallway of the hospital.
REIGHLEE: How strange. I don’t know how I ended up here, but…I wonder what…could…be…. (She reaches out for the handle of the door and opens the door a little bit.) Behind this door.
She walks into the dark room and flips on the light. She sees a boy lying in a hospital bed.
REIGHLEE: I-I shouldn’t be in here. (She turns to leave but stops and walks to the bedside.) Even though it is rude to intrude, I wonder why he is here…
The boy’s eyes snap open and his hand reached out and grabbed REIGHLEE’s wrist. REIGHLEE lets out a scream. The boy groans while he sits up and keeps holding on to REIGHLEE’s wrist. Meanwhile she is freaking out and he stares at his lap.
REIGHLEE: Oh-my-gosh Oh-my-gosh. I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t be in here. I was just curious about what was behind the door. I’m so sorry-
CYRUS: H-hold on a minute. (He clears his throat.)
REIGHLEE: O-okay.
CYRUS: (His eyes look up at her from his lap. They pause for a moment.) You have pretty eyes.
REIGHLEE: What?
CYRUS: You feel perfect. (He pulled her arm closer and wrapped his arms around her waist.) I finally meet you.
REIGHLEE: I think you have the wrong person! I don’t know you! (She tries to shove him off.)
CYRUS: I know you. (REIGHLEE stops struggling as much as she was relaxing into his arms a little.)
REIGHLEE: I don’t understand.
She breaks free of his embrace. CYRUS looks hurt and gets out of the bed and stands up only to fall to the ground.
CYRUS: Cyrus you’re pathetic! Why can’t I seem to move my legs? (He stands up more carefully and stays on his feet.) Reighlee, let me explain. I’m sorry it might seem sudden. (He looks in pain on his feet.)
REIGHLEE: How do you know my name?
CYRUS: I know your name, because you are mine and I am yours.
REIGHLEE: I’m sorry Cyrus…or whatever your name is. I got to go. You’re freaking me out; I’ve never seen you before in my life. (She rushes out of the room.)
Scene Three
Back in REIGHLEE’s hospital room EVERETT, MARIA, and REIGHLEE are talking.
REIGHLEE: I don’t know what was wrong with him, but I think he was just confused or something. He said he knew me. But I’ve never seen him before. He looked kind and strong. With a voi-
EVERETT: Hey, I don’t want to be hearing any of that from my baby sister.
MARIA: Everett, shut up! I want to hear this. You were saying?
REIGHLEE: I didn’t mean to say that out loud. (She covered her mouth with her hand with wide eyes looking at MARIA)
MARIA: Maybe you could go see him again and help him sort out his confusion. (She winked. REIGHLEE groaned.)
EVERETT: Maria! No way am I going to let that perverted coma-boy near my sister. He could try something you know?!
MARIA: Really now, Everett, don’t be such a spoiled sport. (Pouts.) I doubt he is that dangerous. We don’t even know how long he has been in a coma in the first place.
REIGHLEE: I’m not going to see him again anyway. So don’t worry about it bro. Your “poor innocent baby sister” (She put quotation marks with her fingers.) won’t be corrupted by the bad and scary boy-whose-been-asleep-for-who-knowns-how-long. Honestly, he’s harmless.
EVERETT: ha-ha, very funny Reighlee. You know I’m only looking out for you.
REIGHLEE: I know, but you’re hovering. Let me have some room for my propellers to spin even a little bit. Okay?
MARIA: I told you she needed some room. Listen to the girlfriend who is best friends with your sister? No. She doesn’t know anything about anything. (She crosses her arms over her chest. EVERETT tries to kiss up to her and she rejects him and so he resorts to tickling her, making her laugh and squirm.)
REIGHLEE: Ugh, guys get a room. Preferably not mine.
EVERETT: Hmmm (He makes it look like he is really thinking about it.) Okay. (Grabs MARIA’s hand and pulls her out of the room.)
REIGHLEE: Hey! Wait! …Ewh.
She sighs and picks up her music box. She plays it for a little bit and when she leans back on the bed it falls off and smashes to the ground. She gets out of bed in a hurry.
REIGHLEE: Oh no! No, please not my music box.
NARRATOR: It’s too late. What going to go try and kill yourself over a music box? That’s just sad Reighlee.
REIGHLEE: No. I’m fine. I don’t need it. I don’t need anything.
She got back in her bed and left the broken music box on the ground. She takes a nap. CYRUS finds her room and sits in a chair near REIGHLEE’s bed. He brought food with him and set it on her tray. When she wakes up she sees her tray next to her has food on it. She smiles and yawns, stretching.
REIGHLEE: Everett you didn’t have to-(She sees that it is CYRUS)
CYRUS: Hey…you finally woke up.
REIGHLEE looked shocked and scared, but nodded anyway. She didn’t want to get on his bad side in case he was dangerous.
CYRUS: (Sits on the side of her bed.) You may not understand, but I’ve been asleep for a very long time.
REIGHLEE: How long?
CYRUS: It doesn’t really matter how long. Just that it has been quiet a while. The truth is I’ve been waiting for you to come wake me up.
REIGHLEE: How could you waking up have anything to do with me?
CYRUS: It has everything to do with you why I woke up, but nothing to do with why I fell asleep.
REIGHLEE: What put you in a coma?
CYRUS: It all started when-
Their bodies pause and the NARRATOR stops to explain.
NARRATOR: When Cyrus explained to Reighlee about soul mates and how the girl had to choose between himself and the other guy and didn’t pick him, she felt sorry for him but not to the point that she felt like she was included in his story at all. She after all was just a girl in a mental hospital for trying to kill herself, parentless, and she knew she had no redeeming qualities to make up for her own selfishness. How could fate deal her such a generous gift?
How could I indeed.
They smirk and the two are un-paused.
REIGHLEE: So…are you sure I’m the one?
CYRUS: Positive.
REIGHLEE: How do you know?
CYRUS: Would you like me to show you?
REIGHLEE nodes and CYRUS creeps closer to her on the bed and wraps his arms around her..
REIGHLEE: W-what…how can I…I feel so….
CYRUS: At ease?
REIGHLEE: Y-yes.
CYRUS: Because our souls are touching.
REIGHLEE: How?
CYRUS: Just by touching skin to skin our souls can feel the other half of it. But not only can it put you at ease, it can allow you to feel what I’m feeling as well as letting me feel what your feeling.
REIGHLEE: Somehow I don’t think you can really know how I feel.
Wraps his arms around her again. He hums the song from her music box.
REIGHLEE: How do you know that tune? The music box broke earlier today before I fell asleep. There is no way you could have heard it before.
CYRUS: When I hug you I can hear it coming from your heart.
She gasps and finally relaxes into his arms and buries herself in them a little bit.
REIGHLEE: Are you for real? Am I dreaming? If I am I don’t want to ever wake up.
CYRUS: You’re not dreaming I’m really here.
MARIA enters the room.
MARIA: Hey I just talked to the doctor and he said- (Stares at CYRUS) Who is this? (Points at him, her face is stern.)
REIGHLEE: (Laughs weakly as they stop hugging each other and CYRUS holds her hand instead.)Remember the guy I was talking about?
MARIA: Ohh…yeah. (She looks him up and down.) I though you said that you didn’t know him…
CYRUS: In a way she didn’t and in a way she did.
MARIA: That is an odd statement. What do you mean?
REIGHLEE: He means that we have something to share with you. Something…er…happened…?
MARIA: Maybe you should wait for Everett it seems awfully important. He said he’ll-
EVERETT enters the room and stands still at the sight of CYRUS
EVERETT: Who is that and what is he doing in here?
REIGHLEE: Everett, this is Cyrus.
EVERETT: Huh? I thought you didn’t know him, if that was the case why are you holding his hand right now?. Really what is going on?
REIGHLEE quickly takes her hand away from CYRUS’s and he frowns in confusion and they all freeze while the NARRATOR chuckles a bit.
NARRATOR: It took a lot of effort to get Everett to understand the situation and that it was real and a little less time for Maria to believe. Maria suddenly thought of something while they were talking about Cyrus’s past. Where would he be living if he had no parents or other relatives to speak of?
They all un-pause and MARIA walks over to EVERETT’s side and whispers something in his ear making him frown.
MARIA: Please?
EVERETT: I can’t say no, but I don’t want to say yes. So I’ll say he can for now. One wrong thing happens and he is out of our house, You got that punk?
CYRUS: Uh…what?
REIGHLEE: What are you yelling about now you lunatic?
EVERETT: The doctor said you’re good to go home. We leave tomorrow. Maria and l will come to pick you both up late tomorrow night, after we both get off work.
With that the two left the room, MARIA smiling and giving REIGHLEE a wink before she shut the door. CYRUS and REIGHLEE look at each other and question at the same time.
BOTH: Both of us?
Scene Four
NARRATOR: Everett and Maria picked up Reighlee and Cyrus with no problem. Reighlee had been released from the hospital and no records of Cyrus being in the hospital were still in existence, so nobody asked questions when they took Cyrus with them. They rode back to the two-story home that had been empty of people for about three days due to Reighlee’s latest accident. (Puts quotations up.)
MARIA and EVERETT go to their room.
EVERETT: I don’t want to leave them in the house alone with each other.
MARIA: Everett they aren’t going to do anything and nothing is going to happen.
EVERETT: That’s what you think. I know something will happen.
MARIA: Everett, just get over yourself. Reighlee is 17, she doesn’t need you to protect her all the time. Plus the fact that Cyrus respects your sister and as far as I can tell loves her. Just give him a chance and stop being so paranoid. We don’t even have to worry about this until tomorrow morning when we leave for work.
Walks over to his side and hugs him.
EVERETT: (Sighs) Alright already, I’ll try to be better about being paranoid. I just really care about her. I don’t know what I’d do without her and I’m sick of almost loosing her all the time.
MARIA and EVERETT exit from the room. REIGHLEE shows CYRUS the guest room.
REIGHLEE: This is where you’ll be staying. My room is across the hall if you need anything. (She starts to leave the room but he stops her.)
CYRUS: Reighlee, I know this is a lot to swallow, but trust me when I say I’d do anything for you and I’ll always be here for you. (Kisses her on the cheek making her flustered.)
REIGHLEE: U-uhm ye-yeah! (Shakes her head, to clear it.) I’m in a way, glad that you would promise to stay with me. It means a lot to me. I’m tired so, good night Cyrus.
CYRUS: Good night, Reighlee. Please, sleep well.
REIGHLEE: (Smiles) I think I just might tonight. (Leaves the room and goes into the room across the hall.)
NARRATOR: In the morning, Everett reluctantly went to work. Cyrus had a lot of time to himself in his new room to think about all the new things he had seen on the way to Reighlee’s house. Back in the hospital he had figured out the year and was baffled at the fact that he had been asleep for so long, but not surprised that he was still alive. He had always believed in magic and so it wasn’t that much of a stretch for him. He knew that Reighlee would probably flip out if she found out, so he kept it to himself; thinking it wasn’t that important.
Everything was different from 61 years ago. It was shocking to see everything all at once like he did. When Everett got home he signed Cyrus up for classes at Reighlee’s school at his girl-friend’s request. He of course was very weary about it, but still followed Maria’s wishes. Checking up on the boy Everett found him confused by the technological things in the house and had to explain a lot about how things worked and thought it was just because he had been in a coma it somehow tampered with his memories. Later that day, Maria got home and saw that Reighlee’s door was still shut from the previous night and Cyrus was in his room with the door wide open. She went into Cyrus’s room to talk with him.
MARIA: So how you holding up kid? (Sits on the edge of his bed, next to CYRUS)
CYRUS: I guess I’m alright. Reighlee still hasn’t come out of her room yet. (He looked at Maria.) You and Everett are soul-halves as well, so you understand right? (Looks down at his lap.)
MARIA: I heard stories growing up about soul-halves and always loved the thought. I know Everett is my one and only, so I’m not too put off from what you’re saying. I don’t think you’d lie. You look a little troubled what is it?
CYRUS: I’m confused as too if Reighlee really accepts me. She says she does but she hasn’t been out of her room at all today.
MARIA: Just give her time. I’m sure she is overwhelmed. I see the way she looks at you when you two are together. I’m sure is scary and exciting all the time, but Reighlee, you got to understand, has had a rough couple of years since her parents died.
CYRUS: I figured she didn’t have parents, because she lived with you guys.
MARIA: They were in a terrible accident. A drunk driver drove them off the road. It has been killing her. The reason she was in the hospital was because she threw herself out of her bedroom window.
CYRUS: But we are on the second floor! (Stands up in shock.)
MARIA: I know. (CYRUS sits back down and stares off in thought.)
CYRUS: Her heart plays a sad tune you know?
MARIA: Huh?
CYRUS: Oh, nothing...nothing.
Everything freezes, all but CYRUS and he stands up.
CYRUS: When Reighlee and I touch I can feel a slow throbbing pain that seems to dull as we are near each other for longer amounts of time. I wonder how bad that pain feels to her. I wish I could take all of it away. For good. Maybe I can? I certainly hope so. I’ll get her to trust me completely and I’ll make that tune that is in her heart turn into a happier one! That is all I wish for after all. Her happiness.
Everything thing unfreezes as CYRUS sits back down in his place.
MARIA: Alright. I’m going to go see Reighlee. (Stands up and is going through the doorway but stops.) By the way, you start school on Monday with Reighlee. So, just giving you a heads up.
CYRUS: Okay. Thanks, Maria. For everything. (Smiles)
MARIA: Don’t sweat it. (Winks and leaves the room and knocks on REIGHLEE’s door.)
MARIA: Reighlee? (The door opens a little bit and REIGHLEE looks up at her.)
REIGHLEE: Yes?
MARIA: Don’t you think you should come out of your room at lest once today or maybe just open the door?
REIGHLEE: I just got up only a couple hours ago and I’ve been doing my make-up work that I had from being in the hospital. I didn’t mean anything by having it shut. Why?
MARIA: (Leans in and whispers in her ear.) You’re confusing Cyrus. He thinks you are rejecting him a little bit.
REIGHLEE: (Opens the door wide.) Oh! Not at all! I just…you know I was having some alone time.
MARIA: It’s okay. Just think about it more next time, you know?
REIGHLEE: I will.
MARIA: He is going to be starting school with you on Monday.
REIGHLEE: Really?
MARIA: Yes, so look out for him, okay?
REIGHLEE: Oh don’t worry, I will.
MARIA: (Raises an eyebrow.) Mhmm, okay. Well, I’m going to go see what your brother is up too now.
REIGHLEE: Good luck with that. (Waves and MARIA goes off to find EVERETT. Looks at CYRUS’s open door. Walks over to it and knocks on the open door.) Hey, can I come in?
CYRUS: Please, do. (Smiles)
REIGHLEE: I kind of slept the day away.
CYRUS: You must have needed the sleep.
REIGHLEE: I never really need the sleep. I’m just always sleeping.
CYRUS….Reighlee?
REIGHLEE: Yeah?
CYRUS: I really want you to be happy, so can you make me a promise?
REIGHLEE: A-A promise?
CYRUS: Yes, a promise to never hurt yourself again. If not for yourself, then for me. I don’t just love you Reighlee, I need you. Without you I can’t exist.
REIGHLEE: …I….
NARRATOR: Yes Reighlee, now you can’t just think only of yourself. Think of him before you have one of your accidences. (Puts up quotation marks.)
REIGHLEE: (Shakes her head and looks up at him smiling.) Don’t worry, I promise.
CYRUS: (Stands from the bed with a huge smile and hugs her tightly to himself.) Good.
Scene Five
NARRATOR: It was Monday and time for school. School had changed since Cyrus had gone to school, he was sure; however, he put on a brave face and when Reighlee and Cyrus were dropped off at school he walked in with Reighlee without an ounce of fear on his face.
Reighlee lead him to the front office and told the secretary that Cyrus was the new student and got his schedule and a pass to be late to their classes, so that she could show him around the school. As they traveled the halls Cyrus grabbed her hand and while she blushed something fierce—she didn’t pull away.
Now isn’t that just sweet.
In the shadows a person watched them jealously.
BLANCA: What does she have that I don’t? Why is it always Reighlee that gets all of the good things in life? I mean besides the parents dying tragically. Then again you could see that as one more thing that makes her more mysterious and cool. Now she has this guy who I would die to be with. (Sighs and crosses her arms over her chest. Gets an idea and jumps up and down clapping her hands.) I know, I know! I’ll just steal him from her with my good looks and charm. He won’t be about to resist.
NARRATOR: (Bursts out laughing.) Maybe when pigs fly, hunny.
BLANCA: (Bell for classes ring.) Oh no! I’m late for class. Double darn it.
NARRATOR: Time seemed to fly by while they were both in school. Cyrus was a little bit behind in school but he was able to catch up with no problem. Cyrus was able to meet a couple of people and make friends, meanwhile getting closer to Reighlee. He never got the three simple words from her that he was hoping for but he knew it would take some time.
About two weeks after his first day he met Blanca. Oh brother, this should be good folks.
CYRUS was walking down the hall when BLANCA purposely walks into him.
BLANCA: Oh-my-gosh, I’m sorry!
CYRUS: Oh don’t worry about it. Bye. (Starts to leave.)
BLANCA: Wait!
CYRUS: (Stops) Yes?
BLANCA: Oh…um…you’re Cyrus right?
CYRUS: Yeah…?
BLANCA: Oh…we’ll…um…do you want to go out with me? (Tries to look sexy.)
NARRATOR: Oh-my-lordy, I think I’m going to be sick. This is just sad.
CYRUS:
I’m sorry but
I’m kind of…well…sort of in a relationship
right now.
BLANCA: Oh…
CYRUSL Sorry! The bells about to ring we got to get to class! Bye! (Runs off to class.)
NARRATOR: That was a shot down. (BLANCA walks to the other classroom.)
NARRATOR: It’s a sad thing to say but Blanca kept trying to get Cyrus to go out with her for the next two months that they were in school. All of the times she had tried without Reighlee around. One day she caught Cyrus in the hall but Reighlee was there as well.
CYRUS and REIGHLEE are walking down the hallways together and BALNCA walks up to them.
NARRATOR: How in the world does she think she is going to pull this off?
BLANCA: So, Cyrus, you and Reighlee aren’t going out right?
CYRUS: (He sighed and moved a little closer to Reighlee.) For the last time Blanca I won’t go out with you. I just don’t like you in that way. I already told you that I am in love with Reighlee. (Reighlee glared at Blanca.)
REIGHLEE: Could you move we have to get to class. (Blanca rolled her eyes and stomped off.)
BLANCA: That was the last time. Who needs Cyrus anyway? Something is obviously wrong with him for him to like Reighlee. I’m not sure why I went after him in the first place I’m too hot for him! (Walks off stage in a huff.)
NARRATOR: If that’s hot I’d like to see ugly. (Shivers)
CYRUS: I’m sorry about that Reighlee.
REIGHLEE: Has that been happening a lot?
CYRUS: Almost ever since I’ve entered school.
REIGHLEE: Ah-ugh! Ever since I first met her she tried to be my friend, but she is so bossy and mean that I told her that I wouldn’t be her friend. Now anything that I have she wants. I don’t understand why she lives to annoy me!
CYRUS: Reighlee?
REIGHLEE: (ignores him and stands off to the side a little bit.) I can’t believe she was trying to take him from me behind my back. Cyrus is my soul-halve! He can only be with me!
NARRATOR claps and laughs a little.
REIGHLEE: (looks to the ground and then covers her face with her hands) Where did this come from? I didn’t even know that I felt that strongly about Cyrus. (Looks back at his questioning face.) I think that I finally know how I feel about him for sure. (They continue walking down the hall. She is looking at the floor.) Hey, Cyrus?
CYRUS: Hmm?
REIGHLEE: D-Do you want to go out with me?
CYRUS: (Stops Reighlee by grabbing her shoulders.) Do you mean you want to? Like really want to? I don’t want you to say you do if you don’t really want to.
REIGHLEE: I-I think I want to.
CYRUS: (Smiles and drops his book bag and grabs her in a hug. The bell rings for class to start.) I’ve waited a long time to hear you say that.
REIGHLEE: I know and I want to thank you for being so patient. I’m sorry it took me so long. I just- (Pauses) When Blanca just, I, you, err….I was so mad! I thought I was going to take her down! Grab her hair and rip out her eyes! Something! Anything! Just to get her away from you.
CYRUS: (Laughs) Really now?
REIGHLEE: Yes!...um…do you really want to go to class?
CYRUS: Not really…I know what do want to do however…follow me.
NARRATOR: You little skipper you!
REIGHLEE: Okay.
NARRATOR: Cyrus and Reighlee skipped the rest of school and hopped a bus out of the city and into the country. Cyrus lead them from a bus stop to a dirt road that was just to the side of the bus stop. They held hands started walking towards the woods.
CYRUS: This place hasn’t changed a bit.
REIGHLEE: Where are we? Where are we going?
CYRUS: (Smiles) you’ll see, you’ll see. I’ve been wanted to take you here for a long time. Nobody else knows that it is here. Or…they didn’t way back when I was still 12.
REIGHLEE: (Giggles) you do realize that wasn’t that long time ago.
CYRUS: Well…actually it was over 60 years ago.
REIGHLEE: What?
CYRUS: I didn’t say it at the time but when you woke me up I had been in a coma for 61 years. That’s why they didn’t have any of my records or anything.
REIGHLEE: (Stays silent for a while)
CYRUS: Reighlee, I know it is hard to be-
REIGHLEE: I believe you. It actually makes since in a way. All of this magic stuff that keeps happening, you get used to it after a while.
CYRUS: I glad for it. If it wasn’t for the magic I won’t have met you. (REIGHLEE stops and CYRUS looks at her worried.) Is something wrong?
REIGHLEE: (Bursts out laughing) so, you’re really an old man!?
CYRUS: Hey! No fair, I still look and am mentally 17!
REIGHLEE: Yes, you do and are. (Hugs his arms closer to her body. He smiles.)
NARRATOR: They stopped in the middle of the woods. Reighlee was confused but Cyrus seemed to know where he was going so she didn’t worry a bit about what they were doing.
CYRUS: (Takes off his coat and sets it on the ground and sits on it. He motions between his legs.) Come sit with me.
REIGHLEE: Okay!
CYRUS: It’s almost time. We only have to wait a little longer. (It starts to get darker and darker and fireflies start to come out.)
REIGHLEE: Oh! Cyrus, the fireflies! Look at them all! They are all so bright! (Points at the fireflies and leans back on Cyrus’s chest.)
CYRUS: I could stay here, like this, forever. With you.
REIGHLEE: Hey, Cyrus?
CYRUS: Hmm?
REIGHLEE: I love you too.
CYRUS: I would’ve waited forever and always to hear you say that. (Wraps his arms around her.)
NARRATOR: She was a broken half and he was a half begging to finally be completed. Her tune played so softly from his lips and her insides seemed to tremble and shake whenever he was near. Under the dark shade lit by fireflies these two were completed and could never be parted from that moment on; however, they are still only seventeen so the end of this story is only the grand beginning of theirs—together. (Leaves the stage with the book in the middle of the stage open to the page where she left off, a knowing smile while she leaves in on her face.)
The end.
