I constructed this in a carpark, while I was waiting for my mother to find a parking spot. Forgive any spelling mistakes.

WRITER’S MAGIC

Whether hidden within the deepest recesses of the soul

Whether held at the very tips of the fingers

Magic is in everyone

Be they big, small, young or old.

The magic written in this poem

Is one of many kinds

Read on and I’ll explain

And see if can touch your soul and mind

Some people have the gift

The ability to put in pen and ink

Little extracts from their imaginations

It may be a world

Constructed within the four walls of their minds

Or perhaps a mystery

Woven with great skill and care and love

Or maybe a sweet romance

Provoked by the writer’s sensitive side

There are more, oh I assure you there are many, many more

But to explain them all

With great detail and precision

I’d have to write a novel

Some people have the talent

To spill out their thoughts, feelings and dreams

To describe in beautiful flowing lines

Or short, honest words

Those touch your heart in ways that it has never been touched before

What they’ve seen, felt, thought, or dreamt of

In their lives

In a way,

They are granting the readers of their wonderful work of the heart and mind

The right to see

With their help

Things they have seen

Either with eye, heart or mind

Things they have never seen before

Others have the talent

To, behind the music of song and melody

Hide an important meaning or principle

So that those with the right perception

May learn, do and teach those who do not

These are but three of many examples I could have given

But these will have to do

For already in these three

You can see

What I see

A magic,

One of many

But still a magic all its own

The magic of those who labor with pen, ink and paper

The magic buried deep in a writer’s soul
