The Fooled Fool

If it was supposed to be a disguise

You fooled me

I was instantly taken for a whirl

You lied to me

And in the same breath a kiss

I cant believe you

If I wasn’t suppose to hear

You weren’t careful

I heard every torturous word

You let everyone know

As it left your stained lips

You weren’t careful at all

If I was supposed to succumb

I fell hard

I let the hurt spill in

I couldn’t get up

And you let them beat me

Left to bleed it out

If it wasn’t meant for me

The tears that came

Then, why lay the trap

The cries that screamed

Knowing I would fall prey

The scars that didn’t heal

If I was to die alone

Darkness consumes

Without an inch of forgiveness

Laughter behind the mask

With a thorn in my side

Watching it crumble

If it was a disguise

Lies, lies

Then I was fooled good

Tears, bruises

Then you’re the victor

Silent cries, covered wounds
