My Dear Friend

Hear the rain, child,

hear the rain.

As it hides your tears;

washes you clean;

floods your soul…

child, hear the rain.

Feel it raise you up,

while it tumbles down.

Tossed into the air like a bird

just as lightning shatters the dark.

And when the thunder sounds

all is still

but you fall, dear child,

you fall.

Shocked, scared, freefalling

as the skies tears;

falling to your murky puddle,

hoping to drown

hoping to die;

but you cry out.

Cry out in pain.

… a torn heart,

a broken wing.
