One Hope

Hope is your wings,

Bear me to freedom.

This place seems so dark-

The shadows’ kingdom.

The air is stale-

Like a dying breath.

I have no compass

My path is uncertain, guided

By the solemn breeze

Sliding over my shackles.

When I see his eyes-

Dark like my prison-

My body pleads to flee

Though my face is calm

I can’t show my fear-

My hand does not shake.

Hope is your wings,

Bear me to freedom.

In this black painted Earth

You stand strong like the lighthouse

Giving hope to ones

That perceive on the horizon

Only oblivion’s void.

Who is this? My captor?

He holds a blade to my skin.

His look a soulless Golem

His touch the dead.

He stares at me in the mirror-

Who is this stranger?

Hope is your wings,

Bear me to freedom.

Save me from myself.
