“Ok let’s get this party going for the song.” Riley Pratt said into the microphone. “I’m sure my brother will love this one.” The girls started playing one of her dirtier songs.
“Riley!!” Noah shouted. The girls stopped and laughed.
“Just joking, bro.” Riley said, laughing. “How about something sappy?” Noah rolled his eyes but gave her the thumbs up. Riley nodded at Bridgette, Faith and Sam and they started up.
Down to the earth
I fell with dripping wings
Heavy things won’t fly
And the sky might catch on fire
And burn the axis of the world that’s why
I prefer a sunless sky
To the glittering and stinging in my eyes
And I feel so light
This is all i want to feel tonight
And I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
Riley smiled as she watched her brother and new sister-in-law, Alyson, dance. She looked around at the crowd and waved quickly at her parents.
Gleaming in the dark sea
I’m as light as air floating there breathlessly
When the dream dissolves
I open up my eyes
I realize that
Everything is shoreless sea
A weightlessness is passing over me
And I feel so light
This is all i want to feel tonight
And I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
Tonight and the rest of my life
And I
She was so glad that they still had Lorne has a manager. Once he had heard about Noah and Alyson getting married, he pushed things around on the schedule to make sure the girls were able to attend.
Everything is waves and stars
The universe is resting in my arms
I feel so light
This is all i want to feel tonight
I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
And I feel so light
This is all i want to feel tonight
And I feel so light
Tonight and the rest of my life
Tonight and the rest of my life
Riley bowed as everyone clapped. The girls had agreed to perform the first song for Noah and Alyson but didn’t want to do anymore after that. This was meant to be their day off.
“Huh…weird, isn’t it.” Bridgette said.
“What?” Riley asked, sipping her strawberry daiquiri.
“Well look, over there.” Bridgette said, pointing. “Faith’s flirting with Paul.”
“Ok, Faith flirts with everyone.” Riley said. “What’s the point?”
“Well Paul managed to get here but look around…no Jason.” Bridgette said.
“He’s probably busy.” Riley said.
“Too busy to come to one of his oldest friends’ wedding?” Bridgette asked.
“The life of an actor.” Riley said, dramatically. Bridgette laughed. Both girls were dressed beautifully as bridesmaids, Riley as Maid of Honor. They both were light purple dresses that flowed over their bodies down to their ankles and sparkled. Riley’s tied behind her neck while Bridgette’s had straps. Both of them had opted against the high heels and chose silver flats that were just as elegant as the heels. Riley’s hair, which was completely blonde now, was half up in a beautiful twist near the top of her head. The rest was left to hang down to the center of her back in waves.
“What are you girls doing hanging out over here by the bar?” A tall good looking man approached them with a smirk. Riley smiled brightly at him. His brown eyes sparkled happily at the welcome he received.
“Hey, you’re late.” Riley said.
“Yeah…had some work to finish up.” He said.
“This would be my cue to leave.” Bridgette said, smiling. She walked away just as Riley and the man leaned closer to each other and kissed.
“You missed my song, Kyle.” Riley said, barely pulling away.
“I’ll make it up to you later.” Kyle said, pressing his lips back to hers. It was the biggest news in Hollywood when Riley was seen kissing and holding hands with Kyle Davidson, another big name musician. Paparazzi followed them everywhere for the first couple of months before the couple had found a way of avoiding them.
“I am coming over now!” James announced, loudly. Riley pulled away from Kyle as her father joined them.
“Hi daddy.” She said.
“Hey sweetheart.” James said, kissing her forehead.
“Oh is it time yet?” Riley asked.
“Just about.” James said, smiling at her enthusiasm. Being famous did just about nothing to his little girl and that was exactly the way he wanted it to stay. Riley smiled and bounced a bit, clapping her hands. “Mind if I steal my daughter?”
“Not at all.” Kyle said. He respected James since it was the older man’s music which had gotten him interested in the career. That’s how he met Riley, through her father.
“Alright all you girls get your dad’s because now it’s time for the father-daughter dance.” The DJ announced. The song started up and James smirked.
“Oh no, I know that look.” Riley said, smiling. He couldn’t sing as well as he used to but he was still pretty good. So he sang along.
There's two things I know for sure.
She was sent here from heaven,
And she's daddy's little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night,
she talks to Jesus, and I close my eyes.
And I thank God for all of the joy in my life, But most of all, for...
Riley got caught up in her father’s behaviour and sang a bit as well.
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair.
"Walk beside the pony daddy, it's my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny daddy, but I sure tried."
Oh, with all that I've done wrong,
I must have done something right
To deserve a hug every morning,
And butterfly kisses at night.
She laughed when James twirled her around.
Sweet Sixten today,
She's looking like her momma
a little more everyday.
One part women, the other part girl.
To perfume and makeup,
from ribbons and curls.
Trying her wings out in a great big world. But I remember...
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin' little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you daddy but if you don’t mind,
I’m only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time."
Oh, with all that I've done wrong,
I must have done something right
To deserve a hug every morning,
And butterfly kisses at night.
All the precious time
Like the wind, the years go by
Precious butterfly
Spread you wings and fly
“Well this part we haven’t gone through yet.” Riley muttered.
She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise,
and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride room
just staring at her,
she asked me what I'm thinking,
and I said "I'm not sure,
I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
Then she leaned over...and gave me...
Butterfly kisses, with her momma there
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk me down the aisle daddy, it's just about time"
"Does my wedding gown look pretty daddy?" "Daddy don't cry"
With all that I've done wrong, I must have done something right
To deserve her love every morning,
And butterfly kisses
I couldn't ask God for more, man, this is what love is
I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
Every hug in the morning, and butterfly kisses..
“I’m glad you’re not growing up too fast.” James said. Riley smiled. “I’m having a hard enough time getting used to it at this pace.” She laughed this time. She looked over at Noah as he set down the two year old girl that he had been dancing with. Yep, Riley had been right all along. Back when she had first started school, she had thought that something was different about Alyson. Turns out the girl was pregnant and it took Noah almost two years to get off his ass to propose.
“Hey baby girl!” Riley said happily as the toddler half ran their way.
“Auntie Riley!!” She yelled. Riley crouched down just in time as her niece threw her arms out. She put her arms around her and lifted her up.
“Did you have fun dancing with daddy, Chloe?” James asked.
“Yeah.” Chloe said. “Daddy says that I should dance with papa now.”
“Well in that case come here.” James said, taking his granddaughter from his daughter. Riley smiled before walking away from them.
“Hey, babe.” Kyle said, wrapping his arms around her. Riley smiled and put her arms around his neck. “So what did you brother say?”
“Umm…haven’t talked to him yet.” Riley said. “My plan is to keep you here till it’s really late and then he’ll have to agree to letting you stay as well.”
“And that’s why we love ya.” Kyle said, laughing softly. “Because you’re so full of ideas.”
“Yep. I’m Idea Woman.” Riley said, smirking.
“Why?” Faith asked, walking to the two with Paul behind her.
“Because I am.” Riley said. She stepped out of Kyle’s arms and turned to give Paul a hug. “Hey, how are you?”
“I’m good.” Paul said.
“How’d you get invited?” Riley asked, jokingly.
“Jason.” Paul said. Riley raised an eyebrow. “He had some meeting about a new movie to attend so he asked me to come in his place.”
“Well at least that means he got the invitation.” Riley said.
“Yeah…on the last day in that house.” Paul said.
“Wow…good timing.” Riley said. “Did both of you move out?”
“Yeah…Jay’s living with Monique now and I got myself a pretty kick ass apartment.” Paul said.
“Monique?” Riley asked. Faith watched her friend’s face very closely now. “As in tall, gorgeous, dark haired, huge eyelashes and his most constant co-star, Monique?”
“That’s the one.” Paul said. He turned his eyes to Kyle. “Hey, man.”
“Hey!” Kyle said, stepping forward and shaking hands. “How’re you?”
“Good, yourself?” Paul asked.
“Couldn’t be better.” Kyle said, putting his arm around Riley.
“Wait, you two know each other?” Riley asked, leaning into her boyfriend.
“We met at a party.” Kyle said. “Just before I met you and your dad. I met Paul and Jason.”
“Oh.” Riley said. “Hey, Paul, can I talk to you in private for a minute?”
“Uh, yeah sure.” Paul said. Riley kissed Kyle quickly before walking away from the main mass of people and sitting down with Paul at one of the tables. “What’s up?”
“A few things.” Riley said. “You haven’t…you haven’t heard anything about Chris have you?”
“Nope, and I’m hoping never to after what he did to you.” Paul said. “Mia’s off in Australia right now.”
“Took her long enough.” Riley said, smiling slightly.
“I take it that’s not that only things you wanted to know about.” Paul said.
“Yeah umm…Jason…” Riley said. She laughed slightly. “How’s he doing? I haven’t seen him, physically, since that first Easter holiday after we all started at school. I mean, I’ve seen some the movies he’s done.”
“Gotten better since the show back in eleventh grade, huh?” Paul said, smirking. Riley laughed again and nodded. “He’s doing pretty well. You know…didn’t take too long for him to start getting jobs. Afterall he was filming during our first summer holiday.”
“Yeah I know.” Riley said. “He’s happy though right? I mean really…I’d feel awful if I knew that I was this happy with…well…everyone…and he wasn’t.”
“Oh yeah, he’s happy.” Paul said. “Of course he is. Like you, he’s got just about everything he’s wanted.”
“Hmm…well that’s good.” Riley said. “You’ll tell him we all said hi right?”
“Of course.” Paul said. “He’s expecting to see loads of pictures.”
“Well I print you out some copies.” Riley said. “Tomorrow.”
“Ok.” Paul said. “Sounds like a plan.”
“Smile!” Bridgette said. Riley and Paul looked up and leaned closer over the table so that the shot would be easier. Bridgette snapped the picture and looked at the little display window. “Oh that’s a good one.” She went off to take more pictures. She, Faith and Sam were all going around taking pictures of everyone. Most people there had gotten enough pictures of the girls so they all decided that it was their turn to take pictures of them.
“I think we should head on back over.” Riley said.
“Yeah.” Paul said. They stood up and walked back to the group.
