Sitting on the edge

Trying not to fall

I look around me

As two voices call

One is a woman

The other is a man

I must make a decision

But I don’t know if I can

I must choose from

Two hard choices

And I must listen

To each of the voices

Something adds to it

A voice so cruel

Hovering over me

I am a fool

How can I go back

Back to that place

When there is another

Much more friendly face

I make my decision

And turn and fall

He catches me

We walk away from the wall

He holds me tighter

Protecting me from where I’ve been

I look up happily

At my beloved and grin

Streams of light

Shine down from the moon

He tells me we’ll be together

and safe very very soon
