Cynical Sun

Waves of heat crash onto pavement,
Shining daylight into tender brown eyes.
The loud hum of warmth buzzes in ears
As faces drench in sweat baths.
Gasping, hot air chokes stuffy lungs.

Scoffing, the Sun gazes down on Earth,
Watching as they suffer in his brutal glow.
He smiles and laughs, extending his rays,
Tickling the planet with his scorching fingertips,
Listening to the pleasant sound of the sizzling,
Overheated, sunburned (red as apple) humans.

But, Winter blows herself in, and Sun is tired.
Sadly he gives the inhabitants a break.
With his back turned, blissful Hallelujahs erupt
As Winter comes to hold the Earth in her icy hands.
Bored, the Sun still has joy in melting their snow.
