The silence seems to

Ring in your ears

Waiting

Simply waiting

Until the moment

When you hear

The crash.

-

The crashes seem to

Continue on forever,

Like a rock slide,

Continuing

Constant and violent

Until the moment

When you hear

The screams.

-

The screams seem to

Echo into eternity

Echoing

Until the moment

When you hear

A knock

On your door.

-

The knock seems to

Follow you forward

As you evacuate

Flee this graveyard

Until the moment

You see the blood.

The blood seems to

Trickle towards you,

Slithering like a snake,

Until the moment

You see the tears.

-

The tears seem to

Be shed forever

Everyone’s scared

Everyone’s sad

But the danger

Is gone.

A/N: This poem is based on a recent experience of mine. Just this morning, a student came into our school, stabbed several people, and almost used explosives. I don't feel like talking about it, so I stick to writing instead.
