The silence seems to

Ring in your ears

Waiting

Simply waiting

Until the moment

When you hear

The crash.

Continue on forever,

Like a rock slide,

Continuing

Constant and violent

The screams.

The screams seem to

Echo into eternity

Echoing

Until the moment

When you hear

A knock

On your door.

The knock seems to

Follow you forward

As you evacuate

Flee this graveyard

Until the moment

You see the blood.

The blood seems to

Trickle towards you,

Slithering like a snake,

Until the moment

You see the tears.

The tears seem to

Be shed forever

Everyone’s scared

Everyone’s sad

But the danger

Is gone.

A/N: This poem is based on a recent experience of mine. Just this morning, a student came into our school, stabbed several people, and almost used explosives. I don't feel like talking about it, so I stick to writing instead.
