Truth
Chapter one
The bell rang, announcing the end of 3rd period at Samson high school. Laura Reenes gathered her stuff and shoved it into her bag. Another boring day at a boring school. Laura sighed; the tenth grader still couldn’t believe what had happened. Earlier that day, her friend Sarah had told her she was pregnant. What was worse, the father was Laura’s boyfriend. She was heart broken, but she didn’t cry. She didn’t yell or scream. She just walked away. Sarah had text messaged her several times during the next three hours, begging her to talk to her. Laura didn’t respond to them though, she actually hadn’t spoken to anyone since she was told. She hardly even thought about anything. She wandered into the cafeteria and sat down at a table. After a few minutes, someone sat next to her.
“You look like you saw a ghost.” He said.
“Vince, not now.” She responded.
“…Uh huh, what’s wrong.” He asked.
She looked up at him, tears in her eyes. In stead of speaking, she burst into tears, sobbing as she buried her face into his chest. Vince embraced her, hugging her tightly. Between sobs, Laura explained the best she could.
“They slept together, Sarah and Roger! I don’t understand how they could do this to me.” she said, crying even harder.
“They’re cruel, that’s the only explanation.”
“But she’s sposed to be my friend, he was supposed to love me! I just don’t understand.”
“There’s no reasoning with this, it’s just done, nothing can take it back, nothing can change it.”
Laura continued to cry for the rest of the lunch period, Vince doing his best to console her.

It was later that day; Laura lay on her bed at home, watching the sun, as it set outside her window. She got out of the bed and went into the bathroom. She sighed as she undressed and stepped into the shower. “A nice hot shower is just what I need,” she thought to herself. She stood under the hot water, letting it wash over her. She picked up her razor and began to shave her leg. She felt pain, and quickly pulled the razor away. “Fuck!” she said, as the small cut began to bleed. She quickly turned off the water and climbed out of the shower. Walking over to the sink, she picked up a towel and held it against the cut. She was amazed, the pain had stopped, and she even felt a little better. She stared at the razor that lay on the shower floor, and then she made her decision. She walked over and picked up the razor. She pressed the blade against her wrist, and closed her eyes. The stress lifted from her as the blade sliced her flesh. She breathed heavily as she pulled it away. She watched as the blood began to run, and lowered the razor to her flesh again. With each cut, she felt better. She watched the blood flow for a moment, and then pressed the towel back against her arm, after she stopped the bleeding, she left the bathroom and lay down in bed. Soon after she drifted off to sleep.
