I pushed the moron who had just kissed me away.
"You idiot! Fuck off and leave me alone!”
"But I ...”
"No buts. I hate you and if you had at least one ounce of sense you'd know that is not how you get a girl." He kept staring at me so I turned and walked away. Sam wasn't allowed to do that. Not now; not ever.
I walked out of school not caring about any of it. Bring on the detentions because at this point it really doesn't matter to me. If my mother grounded me, then fine. I really don't care.
I kept walking along the road, at the end were some woods. I had to walk through them to get home. Something was wrong but I couldn't figure it out. I was walking confidently at first but that soon started to waver as I got nearer to the middle of the wood. I noticed that there was nothing around me; no cute animals, no birds, none of the noises that you would normally hear. There were no people around either.
I started to slow down and my confidence began to fade. My nerves began to get the better of me and as I stopped I could feel my self shaking. Something was seriously wrong. I never felt this way before. I had the weird feeling someone watching me. Someone was purposefully keeping their eyes on me. I stopped dead in my tracks.
"Wow, it's true. You really are as good as they say."
"You know never to sneak up on me like that." I smiled. I knew I was being way too paranoid.
“I know. But Epi, how am I supposed to resist your sultry walk and seductive skills?” To this, I nodded.
Okay, let me explain. I was and still am “A fighter”. I have fought many battles with many different people for many different reasons, and they are always in different places. My name is Epilepsy and I'm famous to many other “fighters” as well because I haven't lost a single battle. I'm the best there is and no one can beat me.
“What do you want, Raven?” I asked and he smiled at me
“Well I thought that would be obvious to you by now.” He said and I glared at him. He put his hands up in surrender.
“Okay, so I'm not allowed there. But there is one other thing. I need a fighter.” I looked at him, I could tell he was being serious. "I need the best there is. You know I'm a leader and leaders don't fight, they find someone to fight for them. The best fighter. And you are the best fighter. You've never lost a battle and that's why I need you.”
I racked my brain for a way to get out this, but I couldn't think of one.
"When do you need me?” I asked, and he sighed.
"Next week. That's why I wasn't sure about asking you. Your last fight put you in the hospital, and the doctors told you not to fight for a while." When he said that, I smiled.
Raven was the only caring one out of the six leaders. They held fights every year to see who would become top leader and so far Raven has lost every year because he hasn't had me to fight for him. I met Raven last year on my tour of England with one of the other leaders and took down the fighter he employed with out a sweat.
"I'm not ready yet Raven, and I doubt I will be in the next week. I know you really want this and I know you can make a change, but If I did fight I might even go down for once in my life.” Raven nodded at my words and I knew he understood what I was saying.
About 4 months ago, I got my self into a fight. Actually Raven did but I didn't pass up the challenge. It was me against a 6'5” bloke who had muscles that made mine look lousy. I fought hard, but by the time I had defeated him I had four broken ribs, a broken nose, fractured foot bones and 4 broken fingers. I was in terrible shape because one of the rib bones was just about ready to cut open my lung, but thankfully the doctors moved back into place and saved my life.
Raven felt really sorry for me and he paid all my hospital bills but I haven't been in a fight since then, not a serious one anyway. If Raven wanted me to fight for him next week I might as well quit before I got to the finals because there was no way would I win, if I did it would be with sheer luck.
“Epilepsy, I wouldn't ask you to do this if I didn't think you could. You're 17, and you've been fighting since you were 13 and in all that time no has been able to beat you. You're as good as any of the leaders but you prefer to fight alongside them instead having power over them. All I'm asking is that you fight for me and then I'll leave you alone for as long as you want me to. I need you to do this.” It was true, and I did want to help. But due to my current condition, there was going to have to be some stipulations.
"I'll do it. But I'm allowed to drop out and let you lose if I feel like I can't fight. And if I fuck up any more of my flawless body, I'm blaming it on you.” Raven nodded. “Seriously, you have to let me do this my way. If I don't feel up to competing then you'll have to wait until next year.” Raven nodded again and disappeared into the woods.
As I continued on my way home, only one thought crossed my mind.
I am in so much trouble.
