Monster

Those three words

I knew you meant them

But I was scared

I was scared of the monster

I was scared it would hurt you

the way it did the others

So I pushed you away

Hoping that it would be enough

to keep you safe

But I was wrong

The monster took control

Now everything is lost

I can't control it without you by my side

helping me

It's hungry

It needs to feed

It needs to taste the horror and the fear

It has found its first victim

It rips the head off and watches

Pleasure filling its body

The blood streams down to its ankles

“Such a beautiful color” it says in amusement

It bends down and puts a finger in the thick liquid

bringing it up to its mouth for a taste

“So good.” It whispers and straightens up.

It's still hungry

so the hunt begins again

Why? Why did it have to be you?

You make a step back

but the monster jumps at you and grabs your arm

ripping it from the socket as easy as breaking fresh bread

The blood streams down and the monster smiles

“Why?” You ask. “Why you?”

But you know the answer

“Because I am the monster” I answer through the monster's lips

It jumps and rips your body appart

leaving you on the ground looking like a lifeless, broken, doll

It turns around and walks away

The hunger never goes away

But a tear slides down its face

for the person that died

Making it what it was

A monster without a heart.
