Misery

A broken umbrella

thrashed and tattered by the wind.

A lonely stream

flowing to nowhere beyond the horizon.

An only sneaker

worn and aged, left in a locker without its twin.

A solemn rose

in the middle of a dreary, dark forest.

An unwanted puppy

all alone in a box on the curb

in a cold rainy night.

An unused, dusty typewriter

forgotten in a basement to rust with other old junk.

An abandoned farm house

left to rot to sheer nothingness.

A life taken

by the hands of terrorism and war.
